The silence in his room beyond the steady buzz of the fan by his bed is broken by the vibration of his phone on the nightstand. For a moment, Kazutora lets it linger. The place is silent. His mom is off to work, or maybe it's just to avoid him. He doesn't know, doesn't really care anymore either when she can't raise her eyes to look directly at him anymore. Hanma's busy and while some of the Valhalla guys are running around, Kazutora doesn't mind taking a day to himself for a change. A minute passes and then he grabs his phone only to immediately sit up when he sees its Baji that has texted him. Fuck, he should've checked quicker. Even if it has only been a couple minutes at most.
He taps the message notification only to pause when he stares at the message. The immediate delight wobbles and wavers, uncertainty starting to creep in and spoil the rush of serotonin. Rereading old messages? What kind of messages? Ones Kazutora and Baji had? Or does he mean TOMAN MESSAGES? That thought alone causes a violent reaction in his chest, bitterness in his mouth like his whole body is trying to purge the thought from his head. He purses his lips, considering the message before he types back.

Honestly, it would be a crime NOT to tease Baji just a little bit for the admission regardless of WHAT he's rereading. Baji was the one making the confession to him after all. That was like giving someone a water gun and expecting them not to shoot anyone with it.
Still, he follows it up with a more GENUINE question despite the pit that writhes in his stomach at the possible response.
