Usually Jonas worked the kitchen while Abel did the counter, but on Thanksgiving it was reversed. The shot was open for half of the day, pie and dessert orders prefilled the night before, waiting for customer pick-up but some last minute baking was being done in the kitchen.

Well, baking in a non traditional sense. Abel was busy filling prebaked pie crusts and making pumpkin pudding and custard pies. His creme brulee were selling better than expected, so he was constantly making a new batch of filling on the stove while another pot was cooling. 

Those who hadn’t placed pie orders were coming in and getting upset that traditional apple and pumpkin were sold out already. 

But he wasn’t playing customer service rep today so the former surgeon didn’t care. He was content to be busy and forget what day it was.
