For Elena. Did you believe Estéban to be dead for four decades? Because I bet him suddenly showing up out of the blue had to be emotional.

Eep! I've been waiting for you guys to go public with this!! Ok...I wanna know—how do the amigos fit in this world? Are Naomi, Mateo and Gabe all there? And do they become friends with Esteban?
Hello, Becky! As you have probably seen by now, yes, all of the amigos are here! 😄
It takes a while for Esteban to qualify as a friend to most (and vice versa) and there are all sorts of different dynamics between all of them now, considering Elena isn’t the glue that ties them together like in canon.
And let’s not forget there’s a new addition to the teens in the palace! Yes, it’s Carla 💜
All of them have their own dreams and aspirations, roles and a character arc unfolding slowly, which differ from the show quite a bit. Mateo is a wizard apprentice, Naomi isn’t part of the Grand Council, Gabe is still a private because there was no need for him to rise in rank quickly, Carla grew up with her father in the castle...so I bet you can imagine!
Let’s see how all this goes, shall we? 😉
