the reaction towards a girl of colour going missing and her amber alert going off at night was horrible.. one lady said it was a “dick move” and wasnt even a “real emergency” cause she was with her dad (note: the girl was murdered and her dad is in custody) AND ppl were calling 911 to COMPLAIN abt the hour it was sent out.
just say you dont care abt girls and women of colour that go missing. it’s blatantly obvious when you get angry abt an AMBER ALERT not being sent out during a “convenient” time for you. it’s not abt you. theres a missing child. you losing sleep is nothing compared to a child dying. your children waking up because of an amber alert is nothing compared to a mother losing her child.
it is sickening to think she was 11 years old and she got murdered by her own father on her birthday and ppl had the nerve to complain. what would you do if your child went missing? wouldn’t you want an amber alert to go out, as soon as possible? wouldn’t the time it got sent out no longer matter to you as long as it was quickly so that you can have your child home, safe from whoever took them?
this was a little girl. she had so much to live for. her mother and the rest of her family and friends must be so heartbroken right now. and what if they saw the reaction ppl had towards someone they loved going missing? why are so many of you so cruel? why don’t you care for other ppl? she was a child. and yet, you are the ones acting immature. her life should’ve mattered more to you than your sleep. you can get your sleep back, but her mother won’t get her daughter back.
it’s worrying to think that this is what the world is like for girls and women of colour like me. it’s worrying to think that if this was a white child, no one would’ve called to complain, and if they did, it would not have been anywhere near the amount of complaining calls this amber alert had gotten. stop thinking abt yourself. girls and women of colour deserve better. this little girl deserved better. and i hope those who complained feel guilty for doing what they did.
