I had a horrible idea for a whumpee. they are a supernatural detective with a power of some sort, in the sense that when they approach a dead body, they experience the deceased's last moments. if it was a peaceful death, they don't mind. but they most often are assigned to murders or suspicious deaths, leading to them constantly having to use their power and see if the death was a) an accident and b) if they saw who killed them. they're basically transported into the deceased's shoes for as long as it took for them to die. apologies if this makes no sense. it's like 2 am I should be in bed
OOOOOHHHH!!! My friend. My friend I have some excellent news for you. You need to read this book series that I absolutely adore that is so whumpy and is JUST what you've described. It's called Reviver by Seth Patrick (and it's two sequels Lost Souls and The Dead Road). It's about a man named Jonah Miller who is a forensic reviver. Revivers have the ability to wake the recent dead. As a forensic reviver, Jonah goes to crime scenes, wakes the dead, and not only tries to ask them who killed them/how they died, but also let's them have a moment with their family is applicable. It's such an amazing book series and it's so whumpy and I recommend it all the time lol.
So yeah, you're 1000% right, that is SUCH A GOOD WHUMPEE IDEA!!!!!!!
