This Good Robot

*I did not know that the guitarist, Robbie Ragosta, and lead singer, Michael Ragosta, of This Good Robot and the lead singer, Joe Ragosta, of Patent Pending are BROTHERS! I thought that was pretty cool*

A couple of weeks before the show, I actually looked This Good Robot up on YouTube. This was the first and only video of theirs that I watched. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7FAU6NYqH0 . I didn't really like it so I went to the show thinking that I wouldn't really enjoy them, but boy was I WRONG. They are waaay better live and they know how to put on a show.

First to come out on stage was their drummer (Vinny Nuzzi), then the guitarist/keyboardist (Andrew Sclafani), and then the other guitarist (Robbie Ragosta). The first thing that came to mind was...they look like waiters! Mainly because of the suit vests. I thought the rest of the members were going to come out wearing suit vests too, but sadly no. Lead singer, Michael Ragosta, came out wearing suspenders and a bow tie, which was the cutest thing ever!

And here I was thinking I wasn't going to like them very much. But I was wrong. Very wrong. By the end of the first song every member of This Good Robot had worked up a sweat. This goes to show how hard they were going. The two members I couldn't take my eyes off were guitarist/keyboardist Andrew and guitarist Robert! They were like a cute non-couple... If that makes any sense at all.

If given a chance to seen them again, without a doubt, I would! My favorite song of the entire performance would be Call the Police. I wonder if it hurt when Michael was stomping on the chains. hmm. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pVjrUkyiUw - besides the insane head bangings and kinda-cheesy-but-adorable moves from the lead singer,  just look at the amount of energy they put into their performances! I think they would need a bigger stage given the amount of people in the band and the amount of craziness that goes on, on stage.

Even though I only met Robbie and Kenny of This Good Robot, they were super nice and funny! Robbie's pretty cute too. Definitely check both This Good Robot and Patent Pending out!.. Since they're kind of like brother bands. haha get it? But Patent Pending will be for another post.

Call The Station

After Here's to You was Call The Station. While watching this band, I kept thinking of The Wonder Years and The Downtown Fiction. Sound wise, they reminded me of The Wonder Years... which is a good thing because I love The Wonder Years! And as I was watching the lead singer, it brought back memories of when I saw The Downtown Fiction at Tonight Alive's The Other Side tour. The lead singer of CTS reminded me of the lead singer of TDF, like with the eye rolls and everything. I LOVED IT!

Appearance wise, I thought it was quite comical. One guitarist was wearing a plain t-shirt while the bassist was wearing a tie and was wearing some nice shoes too. Total opposites! The bassist even gave a couple of people some guitar picks and the set list. so nice of him.

For the first song, I felt that the guitars, bass, and drums all together were louder than the lead singer so I could barely hear him sing, but eventually it balanced out. Which was good because I ended up liking their stuff!

Seeing as I liked their stuff, I actually wouldn't mind going to see them again on February 16, with I Call Fives, The Composure, and We Still Dream!...but is someone going to come with me?

Here's to You

After The Cavalry Is Us, came Here’s to You. This was my second time seeing them. The first was at This Century and Nick Santino & The Northern Wind’s Up Close and Personal Tour. Compared to the last time, they were much better this time…only because there weren’t any technical difficulties…but I mean, it wasn’t their fault. Sometimes things just happen.

So like the last show, they played a couple of their own songs and one cover. I especially like their lead singer, Charlie’s vocals because his singing sounds… smooth? I don’t know how to describe it, but it’s beautiful! This band not only sounds good but also looks good. This is a band that I actually hope to see more of and see where the music industry takes them. 

side note: I’ve actually noticed, at both shows, that the bass player gets finger cramps (?) … not really sure what it is but aw poor guy. hope it’s all good.

The Cavalry Is Us

The Cavalry Is Us was the opening band of Patent Pending’s Holiday Tour at Revolution Bar & Music Hall on December 26. As the opening band, I can say that they definitely got the crowd all pumped up… After all, what’s a opening band if they can’t get the crowd pumped up for whatever else is to come.

At first, I wasn’t that keen on them because I didn’t really like the lead singer’s vocals*, but that was fine because they had great stage presence! I genuinely enjoyed watching them, especially their bass player, Robert McGrath. No, not that like… My first thought about him was hmm.. he looks kind of geeky. But then when he got to his screaming parts.. DAMN. I was shocked! He was great at the whole screaming thing. I definitely wouldn’t have expected that to come out of him because hey, looks can be deceiving.

After the first song, the drummer had some troubles with a part of the drums, and had to have it taken away but that didn’t stop him from rocking out. And in fact, I’d say they did a pretty darn good job. Overall, I enjoyed watching them and watching them reminds me of Warped Tour, which made me excited for the 2014 Warped Tour!

*I’ve actually gotten a chance to listen to their EP, Cheers To Being Bad People, and I gotta say.. the lead singer’s vocals are growing on me. And you can download their EP for FREE! at: http://thecavalryisus.bandcamp.com/

Coheed and Cambria "In Keeping Secrets" Record Release Show

This was an amazing show. I was right up front for the whole thing. I don't think there has been a bigger or crazier show I've seen at the venue, and there were no barriers or anything. We were right up against the stage. Plus, turns out this is the same building where the A Favor House Atlantic music video was shot. How cool is that?!
