After all this talk of shipping - I know I’ve already told about 50 of you - but I’m gonna post this publicly.
I like peachship. Far more than i like revolutionship. Anzu and Yuugi are good friends. I think their temperaments are compatible. Yuugi’s crush is cute. And the idea that Anzu might go off to school and live, and come to an acceptance of her ambivalence regarding Yuugi compared to Atem, and grow to love Yuugi over time is adorable.
But the idea that it's canon during the DSoD timeline skeeves me out.
It’s pretty much canon that Anzu loved and was attracted to Atem in a way she felt much more strongly about than with Yuugi. The fact that the movie gave no time or space to her feelings of loss while focusing so heavily on Yuugi’s and Seto’s was a slight. And the only reason peachshipping gets the kind of support from canon that it does, even and especially compared to the other het ships, is because it slots directly in to the kind of ‘nice’ guy bullshit you’d expect from a canon so closely entangled in tabletop gaming and nerd culture.
