Lauren’s Like Rating: 10/10 (These two series are the prequels to Magi. Adventure of Sinbad is an extended version of its predecessor, Adventure of Sinbad: The Capture of Dungeon Baal, which had been a special thing for the DVD release of Magi. Unfortunately I saw Adventure of Sinbad first, so I wound up disappointed by just seeing a shortened version of the same thing with no new scenes when I watched Capture of Dungeon Baal. That being said however, for both the story, characters, and animation were superb and exactly the quality I have come to expect from Magi. So all in all, I highly suggest seeing Adventure of Sinbad. The newer, longer one.)

Ja’far is an assassin who gets assigned to kill Sinbad. After botching the job and getting humiliated by Sinbad (who had only good intentions, but his technique fell short) Ja’far swore revenge. After his past is revealed to Sinbad, he is surprised to not only be accepted, but offered everything he has ever wanted. He then swears loyalty to Sinbad and joins him on his quest to found his own country.
Sinbad is a young man who as a child sees firsthand the corruption in the world’s leaders. At first he rebels by refusing to cooperate, but after meeting a mysterious man he becomes inspired to change the world. With his skills and charisma, he embarks on a journey to become powerful enough to found his own country, by obtaining both wealth and allies, so that he can change the world for the better. He is kind, determined, and an inspiration to all he meets.
