Steve Rogers has never followed the law. Like ever. He falsified his application to join the army several times (which is illegal), went on an unauthorized mission when he heard his best friend's unit was captured and the only reason he trusted shield when he first arrived to the future is because of the goodwill he'd built with the army back in his time and knowing Peggy founded it.

But the second he suspected anything (during the first avangers movie), he went out to hunt for evidence to find out if they were trustworthy or not (they weren't). Soon enough he toppled shield because they were hydra, refused to sign the accords because again, it went against his moral code, protected Bucky from the government because they sent out a kill order on him and finally broke his friends out of prison at the end of civil war.

Oh and told General Ross to fuck off when he came back to help save the world from Thanos. And y'all were surprised when he didn't agree with Tony? Like Steve Rogers has never ever listened to authority figures he didn't agree with, ever. That's basically one of his core character traits. Call it a flaw or not, but he's very consistant in his defiance against rules he doesn't agree with.

Pros of messing around with MCU canon with world-building and trying to ramp up the butterfly effect: hopefully everything’s plausible in-story because the buildup’s there.

Cons of devoting over 50k of world-building to get to the fun parts of the story: turns out that some of the characters are very, very different from their canon counterparts and watching them in the movie’s got me going ‘yeah, no way that’s going to happen’ even if said scene is crucial for the future gdi

let’s just say I’m having a hard time keeping the Merchant of Death in reserve bc he really, really wants to take center stage from the moment Ross enters the scene and the temptation’s to throw him in there is maddening. 

But nope. Not yet. [That’s what the Raft scene’s for.]

Also, expect some weird timeskips, etc, because I am not going to rehash the movie, nope, AoU was hard enough and I liked that one more than I did Civil War which should tell you something about both.

You know what the funniest thing about civil war is? The car chase scene between Bucky, Steve and T'Challa in the tunnel is that no one stopped driving! Some random person jumps on your car and you don’t stop driving? Lmao

Rewatching Civil War yet again, hating nearly every moment of it [T’Challa’s just about the only good thing to come from it, as well as Peter]...and I just realized I might’ve bitten off even more than I thought when it came to fix-its. 

Also debating about timeskips and whatnot, because, again, I hate that movie with the passion of a thousand burning suns, but between the time crunch I’m running on [things’ve been busier for me now than they were this time last year], I’m slightly doubtful about just how many fixits I can cram because I am really, really looking forward to writing how Siberia’s going to go down but for that to happen it’d mean cutting a few things, or risking the plot getting derailed even more.

Odds are some things are going to sound a bit contrived, but...well, nothing for it, I guess. Again, TWiFFON’s shameless self-indulgence at its core.

Rewatching Civil War because I’m quite few chapters before that arc comes to the fore but laying the groundwork for Certain Things [because politics] and I’m already regretting it. Fortunately, my audience has no issues with my ranting because I juST REALIZED HOW MUCH OF A MISTAKE I MADE.

Peter Parker is so precious
