Top 10 Anime of the Year (In Some Vague Semblance of Order)

This year sucked and most of the anime that got hyped up (that wasn’t a sequel) weren’t on Crunchyroll so I didn’t see them and probably am not going to any time soon, so pretty much everything on this list is either a sequel or had an OVA series before it became a full series. So they’re not ranked, but I am gonna group this list up, starting with the three that happen to be on my Top 10 Favorite Anime list, then the sequels, and finally the one or two new anime that I actually dug the hell out of.

On the bright side, it turns out I do like enough from the previous seasons that I don’t have to break my rule of not including more than two fall anime on the best of the year list (since they haven’t had time for me to see if i still remember anything about them in three months, and i’m not waiting until march to do this). So that’s nice.

The Sequels/Ones That Had An OVA

The Ancient Magus’ Bride

It’s really pretty and the characters are great and it’s one of the very few Western-folklore-n-whatnot-inspired anime I’ve seen that has nothing to do with Alice in Wonderland, Snow White, or Romeo and Juliet. So that’s cool.

Rewrite Season 2

This anime was pretty. And unlike season one, it kept a consistent plotline and tone throughout, which wasn’t too much of a problem in season one (I still liked it enough to watch season two, clearly) but is still pretty okey dokey.

The Actually New Ones

Alice & Zoroku

Speaking of anime and Alice in Wonderland...

Nah, but this was a cute show.

Magical Circle Guru Guru

This anime probably would’ve been here even if it wasn’t The Dragon Quest Anime. It’s really, really good, you guys. It’s consistently hilarious, the animation is top notch, and Kukuri is my precious and perfect daughter. I’m sad that it ended, but it was a delight.

ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept.

At least in anime public officials can act like adults.

Akiba’s Trip: The Animation

It’s fun and funny and I liked it even though the romance in the last two episodes was kinda forced.

And finishing up the list is an anime that didn’t make my top 5 for it’s season because it hadn’t ended yet, but after it did end I wrote a glowing review gushing about how much I loved this series. Because it’s a great series and I love it and you should watch it if you haven’t.

Well, whaddaya know, I actually managed to come up with more new anime for this list than I thought I would. Go me.

So that was 2017. Hopefully 2018 will be better (and not just in terms of the anime we get from it).

OTP Couples of 2017

Kotarou x Kagari from Rewrite: Moon and Terra (second season)

I ship these 2 since season 1

Kotarou tries ways to get close to Kagari during the moon route but ends up getting killed but he respawns 

but it only took 3 cups of coffee to get into Kagari’s space that he was even crying.

so he made coffee since then and hes trying to figure out what Kagari is doing on this board its revealed shes trying to find a timeline where the earth will be saved from destruction.

they pretty much went on a date too in this route plus it would clear her head up abit 😍

and they danced too 😍

Sakura leader of Gaia sent her creatures to the moon to kill Kagari and Kotarou protected her but he figures out the real reason he came to the moon was to kill her too but now hes declaring war on Sakura so he can protect Kagari till she finishes finding the timeline but he needed help so asking Kagari he was able to summon the occult club once again and Yoshino and his gang to protect Kagari.

but Kagari’s finished but more creatures came and occult club, Yoshino and Kotarou with the last of their strength took out the monsters and soon Kagari sent Kotarou to earth for a mission even though he’ll be reborn but he did make a promise to her to meet her again.

after he was reborn, ran away from home and became a member of Guardian all the other routes he attacked Kagari therefore a 10 year coma without him aging but this time he chose not to attack her and spared her.

2 years in the mercenaries Kotarou returns if he was 15 or 16 when he left that makes him around 18 so yeah hes an adult hes reunited with Kagari only she summoned him to go see her.

Earth Kagari needed his help to save the earth from destruction and since shes the key to the earth’s destruction or survival she asked him to bring her good memories so the earth can be saved and as his reward he can do whatever to her 😂

😂 even on another route hes still a perv but he agrees so he betrays Guardian and joins Gaia to destroy both Organizations so a triple agent since hes working for Kagari

Kagari tends to wander off on her own since shes a target to both Guardian and Gaia, Guardian want to kill her while Gaia want to use her and yea Kotarou gets upset when she wanders off.

😂 like how he just pats her head when she mentions a Kagari canon she use her ribbons to slap his hand away but still 😂

hes destroying both Organizations slowly and shes not ok with it since its coming soon the destruction and also protecting Akane too and Kagari having some emotions for the first time and I think he remember his memories during his time on the moon so he falls down grabs and kisses her.

he also confessed and the only reason he was doing this because he was drawn to her cause yea that but yep he got rejected and she ran off.

hes been killing members from Gaia and Guardian to protect Kagari cause thats all he cares about now and made sure she was safe he hides her in his hotel room only till she got out and he does one final showdown with Esaka who was his mentor in Guardian.

since he failed to bring her good memories to save the earth he had no choice but to kill her it was heartbreaking for him to do since well he loves her.

they share one final kiss before Kagari disappears.

not long after she disappears he dies by becoming a tree for overusing his rewrite ability once again but the occult club girls who are grown up summoned Kotarou from the tree he became and becoming a familiar but he refuses their offer hes destine for something greater and he had to keep his promise to Kagari on the moon so he takes all the girls to the moon where hes reunited with Kagari embraced her and

one kiss too 😍 and this wasn’t in the VN either at the end of this route so I was satisfied I mean they are finally together.

In a new part of the VN recently just added its called cradles tale I think and its what happens after they are reunited on the moon Kotarou takes Kagari back down to earth with him so she learn more about humans and according to rumors they are travelling too 😍
