The library seemed like the safest place at the time. Sick of loud college parties and men who claimed they could work miracles overnight, Jess was only looking for the quiet of a book. It was almost ten and she was one of the only few milling about the bookshelves. Jess headed straight for the biography section and found the battered copy of ‘Zelda’ by Nancy Milford lying on it's side between 'A Life in Letters' and 'F. Scott Fitzgerald'. She’d been picking away at the story of Zelda Fitzgerald’s life each time she visited the library for the past seven months. The paperclip she used to mark her progress was still in place. She pulled her blonde curls out of her face and picked up where she’d left off, inhaling deeply and letting the night’s negative thoughts sail out with her breath
