anyway i love these two….and i agree, sonia, they’ve shown glimpses at it in the show but i wanted to go more into the dynamic they could potentially have and that’s really what inspired this!! i’ve structured it as a 3+1, with it essentially being three times andrea went to tk to talk to him about something, and one time the roles are reversed. here’s a tiny snippet!!

She’s never seen him so…unravelled.

Andrea hasn’t known him very long, and she’s coming to realize that it’s only now that she’s truly going to get to see him. Because while he’s got so much fire in him, all wrapped up with an easy confidence and wide smile and big heart, she’s certain that he’s been careful with what sides of himself he presented to herself and Gabriel. The TK in front of her now sits in sharp contrast with the young man in a nicely pressed shirt with the loud but fitting print who hugged her and riffed with them over limes and conspiracy theories and photos of Carlos’ junior prom at dinner just a few nights ago. And she knows, deep in her core, just how much this goes back to that evening when Carlos was seventeen and telling them his truth; how TK wants to represent their love and himself as clean-cut. But it’s anything except that, and that’s just life, and Andrea’s pretty sure her heart’s dropped to her stomach over the sight of him now: with his bottom lip caught between his teeth and his knee jumping up and down and his arms crossed defensively across his chest as he sits and waits in the harsh light of the ER. Gabriel’s words haunt her now—there was a fire, there was a fire, there was a fire—and it suddenly becomes much too real.

She doesn’t mean to intrude on his privacy, but the heel of her boot squeaks against the linoleum floor, and TK glances her way. He tries to smile at her, but when he can’t quite gather himself in order to stand, she hurries forward and puts a gentle hand on his forearm.

“It’s going to be okay,” Andrea tells him, after he tries and fails to speak. TK doesn’t look like believes her, and it’s hard to focus when there’s soot and sweat clinging to his skin—a visible reminder of what was almost lost tonight—but she doubles down and squeezes his arm the tiniest bit for emphasis. “I don’t make promises I can’t keep. He’ll be okay, mijo. And you will be, too.”

so yeah…..a long way to go still but i’m excited to see where it ends up!

Kim!! When I saw your ask, my immediate thought was “Oh gosh. How will I choose?!” 😆

Remember when Beyoncé dropped that surprise album a while back, no one knew it was coming and then everyone just collectively lost all chill? That’s how it is for me (and I’m guessing others) whenever you post a story. Lol.

After some tedious deliberation, I am going with sanctuary and there’s no way (that it’s not going there). Mostly because I don’t think I’ve mentioned to you just how much I love these two stories, so I'm rectifying that here.

Fun fact -this was your first Tarlos fic, but it wasn’t my first Kim fic. The first story I read that you wrote was actually sweetest devotion. I loved it, then I proceeded to go to your AO3 catalog to read more of your writing. Thus, sanctuary became the second fic of yours that I read and it was amazing. You captured the characters so well!

I love love love AUs. Love them. This alternate first meeting for TK and Carlos was so good. Especially, the serendipity of each of their encounters. 😍 Also, this was the first Tarlos bridge scene you wrote that I fell in love with!

The banter and the humor throughout the story had me laughing often. Not just with TK and Carlos, but the Owen and TK light-hearted moments too.

The friendship you developed between TK and Carlos was incredibly soft. I love a slow burn and you know how to write a great one.

I adore Carlos in this story, you captured everything we love about him so perfectly. His steadiness, his patience, his warmth, his thoughtfulness, and the list goes on.

I liked exploring TK’s headspace and seeing him actively choose to give himself permission to be happy.

THE PALM READING. That’s it. That’s all. Your brain, I swear.

This whole story was just so tender and lovely. 🥺 Truly, one of my favs.

First, I love this song. The songs you choose to inspire your stories are some of my favorites. This is a great one for Tarlos.

Why yes, another AU! Lol. This canon-divergent AU was just fantastic. I love heart-to-hearts set at weddings and this one did not disappoint. I like the idea that Carlos and TK have just been dancing around each other for weeks, so much exquisite tension!

Quality Michelle/Carlos friendship moment here and I loved Carlos hyping himself up to take the first step.

The way you wrote the dance scene, specifically the transition from upbeat/flirty to slow/vulnerable and how you tied it to their emotional state in the moment? Bravo.👌🏽👌🏽

Your end scene here has one of my favorite closing lines. Your closing lines are always incredibly touching.

Honorable mentions: no right to love you (you know how much I love this story and this song, I’ve shouted in your inbox about it a lot. 😂 Also, it has my all-time favorite Tarlos bridge moment. Keep putting TK and Carlos on bridges please.) + sweetest devotion (high quality fluff, I am obsessed with every word of this story. I've lost count of how often I've read it.
