Le Roman de Renard review
Known as 'The Tale of the Fox' in English, this is an adaptation of the French tradition of Reynard the fox stories. Like in said stories, the titular fox is a trickster rapscallion, constantly teasing and humiliating the other animals, until they get fed up and report his crimes to the lion king.
The animation is beyond spectacular. Keep in mind this was released in 1937, and yet we have extremely realistic motion, down to exquisite muscle twitches in the characters' faces, suberb bird flight and a degree of fluidity that is absent in even modern stop motion films.
Given the sheer amount of work to pull this off this movie is rightfully considered a masterpiece, even if the plot could use some fixing.
A strong recommendation.
Silverwing oc: Reynart
I definitely like this one out of all the other Silverwing drawings I ever did. I wanted to create an expressive pose for him and for once, I’m happy with the end result.
I made this sketch back when my art professor assigned us to draw at least 12 characters from a variety of cartoons, animes, or movies. Now then...how the hell was I going to explain to her about an obscure Canadian cartoon? @.@
and he’s floating around your dash. enjoy
