Jettatura: If they could place a magical curse on their worst enemy, what would they want the curse to do?

well first i’ve gotta figure out who his worst enemy even is. i wanna say hyunjin, but then again he doesn’t really hate hyunjin for anything except the war, and even then it’s less a hatred for the emperor and more a hatred for his element as a whole, and the nature of its people, if that makes sense? like, he hates the fact that the fire nation is waging war and trying to conquer the world for no real reason except for power.

but if he did have a single person as his “worst enemy,” he would probably want a curse that would slowly drag them into despair. he’d want them to repeatedly cling onto tiny shreds of hope and then have them tugged away, until they had absolutely nothing left.

Scripturient: Are they a good writer? What do they usually write, if anything?

kei has been writing almost every day for the last twelve years. he’s probably a great writer at this point, but i don’t think he’s ever let anyone ever read his journal. he doesn’t write for others; he writes for himself. and he probably writes about anything and everything, to be honest. it’s always been pretty much his only outlet, since he doesn’t let himself get close enough to anyone else to feel like he can talk about anything of importance. he writes his observations about other people, just little things he notices, like how a family’s dynamic seems to work or what other people’s thoughts on the war are, and how they differ from his own. he often writes about his own thoughts, just to get them out of his head. he usually puts them in some kind of poem, or sometimes, when his thoughts are so loud that all he wants to do is put some words down on the paper, he’ll just rant, scrawling whatever words come to mind and not caring if they’re even legible. the point of those rants are just to get the thoughts out of his head so he can clear his mind as much as possible, because he can only control his bending when his emotions are under control, too.

surya probably thought that people shouldn’t be able to survive in the badlands. what they didn’t seem to count on were the monsters who did — who crawled out of hell coated in liquid fire dancing in their throats, grit and grime and blood coated under their nails, the last vestiges of the burning earth smouldering their feet.

mikhail was never supposed to survive at all —it amazed him, even now, that he’d managed to live this long, and know so many who hadn’t.and it was with great pleasure that he recognised the face that greeted him upon a visit to tempestade — a place he had only ever heard about, and a place he had never known in its full glory — and for her he reserved a proud smile, despite it being hidden behind the thick cloth of his mask.

“i thought you were dead,” she told him, and to her he wanted to say the same.

“i thought i told you to stay out of trouble,” cero stated instead, hands in his pockets, refusing to extend any form of physical affection just yet. the badlands made them grow up too quickly. “what’s this i hear with you fighting in the war?”

“you’re one to talk.” helicity gave a pointed look at his uniform, to which he laughed again.

“point taken.” cero found himself crossing the distance between them, tugging the mask down and displaying the smug little grin that was so characteristic of him that without it he could not call himself ‘cero’ at all. finally, he spread his arms for a hug, ready to receive her in them — an overdue reunion. 

“now, am i going to get a hug from you or not? i think this whole seeing-you-again thing deserves some kind of celebration -- don’t you?”

if there was anythingthat cain did not and could not tolerate, it was disrespect. perhaps he was tooused to it – even in his starting days as a seaman, he expected respect from both his superiors and his fellowmen, thoughthe latter could be subjected to fear if need be. and as the war raged on, hefound that a firm hand was needed in keeping everyone on the same task, andthus towards victory. it was how he had managed to help defend the navalterritory of elv, and promptly expand it, despite the process being tedious.

so he would not allowany little voice from the group of men and women temporarily assigned for himto train.

he strode with purpose,and although his vision was somewhat blurry, his hearing did not fail him. hishand shot out towards the girl, fist tightening around her collar. cain did notsay a single word, and roughly pulled on the uniform as he returned to thecentre of the makeshift ring of officers, intending to have her in tow.

“today, we’re going to focus on waterbending,” cainrepeated, his earlier tone never having an ounce of the momentary burst ofanger that he had felt then. he let go of the cloth in his hand and finallyturned to the officer before him – something about her seemed familiar, but ifcain could not remember immediately, then she was not worth remembering at all.

“i don’t give a flying rat’s shit about whether you wantto fight me or not.” the brigadier general assumed a familiar stance; his palmscoaxed water to surround him until they became suspended in liquid coils winding around each arm, never quite touching his clothes. “how am i to expect you to fight the suryans at their war ifyou can’t beat me at my own game?”
