Rheiah Solvoi | Female | Fuchsia Blood | Sacrifice
Rheiah lives on Pantheon, which is one of my fantroll planets with heavy mythology themes. She resides in the Greek themed kingdom, in a city with a very carnivorous mother grub. It's tradition for a sacrificial queen, known as the Holy Mother, to be chosen and then fed the egg of the mother grub, who will eventually hatch and devour the sacrifice from the inside out. While seen as a holy cycle and an honor, it's a truly barbaric practice not done anywhere else on Pantheon.
Rheiah has known since molting that she's destined to die painfully, and not surprisingly, she's not very into that idea!!! But she plays the part of dutiful Holy Mother, waiting for the perfect opportunity to flee, praying to the gods that she can find a way to prevent the mothergrub from hatching.
The sacrificial queens are all given the name "Rheiah", after the first Holy Mother. Despite loathing the position and title, Rheiah keeps the name to honor all the girls and women who died before her.
Rheiah and her entourage come across a wrecked ship one day in the forest, which is a marvel because the planet is extremely low tech, society having reverted after the first generation of trolls made their home on Pantheon and abandoned their technology. There's only one survivor, and knowing bringing him back to the city is a death sentence, Rheiah takes to visiting him in the forest, bringing him supplies (and a healer, lol). He introduces her to technology, giving her one of the deceased crew-mate's datapads, leading to her discovering Holomeet, a virtual world where trolls from all over gather to socialize, play games, and get away from real life.
She adapts quickly, delighted by the universe beyond Pantheon, becoming more and more eager to escape her duties and city.
The wreck survivor reveals that he deployed a beacon and hailed a ship, offering to take her off planet and help prevent the mothergrub from hatching. She goes with him, of course, bringing others along, including a prisoner from the dungeons and her attendant.
Her story has some Alien vibes, and has themes of breaking detrimental cycles <3
