She’d been searching for cables amongst the ship’s wrecked motor when the rain began. It felt hot, and sticky. Jo groaned, wiping the blood away from her forehead as she kept searching. There was a large whole where the ceiling should’ve been, letting the crimson droplets pour inside. The blood would ruin everything that was still reparable, and without these parts she would never survive on her own. The sound of footsteps broke the silence, her eyes darting where she’d left her machete. Even if it had been at arm’s reach her hands were too occupied to actually defend herself. She took a deep breath, spitting out the blood that had gotten into her mouth. “Are you going to help me or kill me?”
