Hiii what would you recommend a beginner? Like no joke, i bought my first makeup brush 5 days ago. Only things I wear are eyeliner and lipstick, so i was thinking of getting into foundation/eyeshadow. Do you go straight into applying foundation or are there other things you do before that? I want to go for a subtle, day to day look
in order to make your foundation look more natural, i would suggest applying a primer underneath. the l’oreal paris studio secrets magic perfecting base is an awesome drugstore option for beginners.
for foundation, i would recommend getting one that says it’s going to have sheer or buildable coverage, because this will look the most natural. i would recommend blending in your foundation with a damp beauty sponge (something like the beauty blender) for the most natural finish.
afterwards, you want to set the foundation with a powder so that it will stay and not melt off your face. from the drugstore, i would recommend the maybelline fit me powder or the rimmel stay matte powder. if you want to spend a bit more, the mac mineralized skinfinish natural powder is amazing.
as far as eyeshadow goes, i would recommend going into sephora and buying one neutral eye palette that will give you some options to experiment with as you discover what you like. a few of my favorites are the urban decay naked 2 palette, the tarte ‘tartiste’ pro palette, and the lorac pro palette. it’s also important to remember to apply an eyeshadow base before putting shadow on your eyes, whether it be a primer or just your foundation/concealer.
