PRINCESS MONONOKE (1997) - STUDIO GHIBLI's 40th ANNIVERSARY (Part 1/10)

As we are about to celebrate the 40th Birthday of the creation of Studio Ghibli founded on June 15, 1985 by Hayao Miyazaki and Isaho Takahata, this 10 part Blog is showcasing several of the Studio best Productions featuring many of the original Japanese posters as well as limited edition prints

We start with my favorite Ghibli movie, i.e. Princess Mononoke, release din 1997 and which is one of Japan's biggest Box Office success ever.

The level of fantasy truly surpasses anything that Disney has ever created and is a must watch for all animated movies fans.

I recently read such a fun book and I really want to talk about it. I'm talking about Prodigioso Principio de Amor by Silvia Aliaga, which tells the story of two boys who, after starting to study magic in an Italian university, start investigating the circulstances sorrounding their mothers' deaths, who suffered an accident practicing a new spell when they both were very young. This is very difficult in the begining because Rhys and Adrián don't really like each other, even though their moms were best friends. However, their relationship evolves from that initial hate into something completely different while they discover the misteries their university is hiding.

The book was so light and easy to read (which has been a great break from the other books I've been reading lately). The coolest thing about it was the magic system, which was super original and consisted of using quotes from classic books to cast spells, and I just think it was so cool. Humour and mistery were very well balanced, and I really liked how the author didn't only explore the romantic aspect of Rhys and Adrián's relationship, but also their own relationships with their friends. These characters added so much to the plot and overall made the book much more fun.

I really loved this book and had such a fun time reading it. It made me laugh so much, and I loved every character. As a lover of queer fantasy, I think it's a great recommendation and a really good example of how cool spanish literature is these days.
