WALT DISNEY WORLD USA (1973) - WALT DISNEY WORLD POSTERS (Part 1/10)

As we are about to celebrate the 55th anniversary of Walt Disney World. America's most favorite and visited Attraction Park, The Blog features several travel posters from 1972 to 2024 over 10 entries

Opening in 1971 in Orlando, Florida after Walt Disney wanted to complement California's Disneyland launched in 1955 but limited in size, the new park was very quickly scaled up with the launch of EPCOT in 1982 and many subsequent parks and rides

Yest the main iconic views and attractions to all the viistors, young and old remain the Sleeping Beauty Castle and Mickey Mouse which are featured to this day on the vast majority of travel posters advertising the Parks.

THE MAGIC OF WALT DISNEY WORLD (1972) - WALT DISNEY WORLD POSTERS (Part 3/10)

Just after its opening on October 1971, Walt Disney World became the most visited attraction Park in the USA.

To boost its attendance, the Disney Corp filmed a documentary in the park which served as a massive advertising campaign when screened din hundreds of movie theaters in America - and then rebroadcasted on TV as part of Disney TV special in 1974

WALT DISNEY WORLD EPCOT (1982-1983) - WALT DISNEY WORLD POSTERS (Part 4/10)

While envisioned by Walt Disney himself as early as 1966 to be resident city of 2000 people, EPCOT (Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow) was only built from 1979 and opened in 1982, being the first park extension of Walt Disney World.

It houses Future World with 6 pavilions including Spaceship Earth with its massive round dome as well as World Showcase featuring 9 pavilions representing Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, United Kingdom and the American Adventure. 4 more were added between 1983 and 1989

The PARTY US movie posters (1968) - GEOGRAPHY OF A MOVIE POSTER (Part 1/10)

BIRDY NUM NUM

A battle cry rally to all the lovers of 1960's wacky comedies which The Party is the best

The movie, released in 1968, is the culmination of the Blake Edwards-Peter Sellers collaborations.

It could never be done now as Peter sellers plays an Indian actor, wearing full brown face make up and impersonating one of the many Hindi accents to roaring laughter.

It is a movie about racism but like Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob, it turns it upside down completely.

The movie was mostly improvised on the set adding to the slapstick humor (inspired by Jacques Tati's mon oncle) which resonated so well all around the world.

This 10 Part BLOG shows how much worldwide acclaim this movie had in 1968 as it truly was released all around the world

The Jack Davis wacky artwork also enhanced its appeal and was used in most countries but not all as you will see with posters chosen from Belgium. Czechoslovakia, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Sweden and the USA

We start with the US and the two different brilliant paintings done by Jack Davis

The PARTY Belgian movie posters (1968) - GEOGRAPHY OF A MOVIE POSTER (Part 2/10)

The movie was a hit in Belgian when initially released in 1968 but truly attained cult status from its rerelease in 1982 when a new generation discovered Seller's genius. Above are original posters from 1968 and 1982, both using Jack Davis' Artwork.

The PARTY German movie poster (1968) - GEOGRAPHY OF A MOVIE POSTER (Part 3/10)

The movie was released in 168 but it is only when it was re-released in the mid 70's-early 1980's that it gained cult status and reached a much bigger audience.

Above is the colorful German poster which partially used the original Jack Davis artwork creating one of the most unique posters.

The PARTY Italian movie posters (1969-1968) - GEOGRAPHY OF A MOVIE POSTER (Part 4/10)

The movie was released in 1969 in Italy with a different title: "Hollywood Party" Italy was also one of the very few markets which didn't use the original Jack Davis artwork.

The PARTY Swedish movie posters (1968) - GEOGRAPHY OF A MOVIE POSTER (Part 5/10)

Sweden also adopted Jack Davis' original artwork but added more colors on the main format as well as the champagne glass featured in the swimming pool scene. The insert sized poster (stolpe) uses the classic 2 color printing that is standard for that format.

The PARTY Czech movie poster (1968) - GEOGRAPHY OF A MOVIE POSTER (Part 6/10)

Due to its slapstick humor and visuals, the movie had worldwide appeal and was even released in the Eastern European bloc countries. Above is the craziest poster of all the ones made around the world designed by Jaroslav Fiser for the Czech release in 1970.
