my 2nd favorite book, which is right behind number 1 (the tale of despereaux), flora & ulysses: the illuminated adventures, written by the same author of the tale of despereaux, popular children's fiction author kate dicamillo, remimds me too much of hit webcomic series homestuck created by andrew hussie, due to flora's cynical personality being similar to homestuck character rose lalonde's personality (along with the tenseness with their mothers introduced early into the story), william spiver's appearence being strikingly similar to another homestuck character, dave strider (and having suspiciously similar surnames), said two characters sharing a similar relationship as in having showdowns between william's 'coolness' and flora's 'eloquence' (though in a rather cynical matter), and more coincidences that are bound to pop up as i continue to read this children's fiction novel that has won a newberry medal, and now im just sad.
