Moon Over Buffalo: Update #11
Well I realize its a been a while since I’ve posted any updates so nows about time i get back in the swing of things.
Since I last updated, we’ve gotten most of our set up into play, doors and walls are up so its a little hitch here and there on just entering and exiting. but nothing too important.
What has been a bit of a snag recently has been some of the directors choices. admittedly at times he would make things seem a bit ridiculous for the show. making things overly comical instead of letting the script take over and do its job with the actors... which it does do indeed.
However; he has calmed down a bit from those types of choices and the show is running smoothly as it should. It has the right amount of chaos and comedy to make fora good performance.
Now today was rather odd. We had to do a few different things for character work: 1. write a monologue that would fit our own character. 2. improv small scenes that were given to us in order to build relationships.
The monologue part was interesting, I wrote a small piece( not even a minute) gave a scenario as to what a normal day for my character was like. So did everyone else. Afterwards, based off of what we came up with our director gave us some notes, as in, how to incorporate aspects of our character into the performance... which i think could have been done without the letters, but i do think it helped some people so que sera.
As for the improved scenes, i thought it was a good and necessary idea. Although when it came to my scene with my co actress, i don’t think she quite got the point of the scene our director gave us and i didn’t really get a chance to explore what i had wanted to.. but hey c’est la vie.
We will begin tech next week and I will also get my hair cut for the show next week... things are moving along, and though we hit a bit of a snag, we move on as we always do.
Moon Over Buffalo: Update #8
Well as for today, there was both, a lot going on yet at the same time not so much?
we are finally starting to block in a more detailed manner, in the sense that we’re working moments with the director. We also managed to finish the end of Act II this time! Up until now, there was always something that prevented us from reaching the end but now we finally reached a full .. VERY rough run of the show. Though when I say rough, I hardly mean bad.
While a majority of the cast was running lines and warming up, we were happy to know that our George and Charlotte have gotten more swordfighting choreo down and its continually growing more and more!
We have about 13 more days until tech .. until hell, so here’s to a smooth week when we get there. Also, I know i’ve been saying I would be putting up a full cast photo, but i just keep forgetting, while I doubt I let anyone down, I do apologize nonetheless! I shall give myself ten minutes to reflect upon my actions to do better next time... And on the note of next time, this is all for my MOB update today.
So, until next time(even though I’m about to do a L&E update), Enjoy your day!
