Well, I need a late pass on this: Einstürzende Neubauten - Si Takka Lumi
I somehow missed it in amidst all the other Bauhaus Centenary stuff, but it’s a new Neubauten video featuring choreography by Richard Siegal, based on the work of Oskar Schlemmer (of das Triadische Ballett fame). The 3D element does not render amazingly on my computer, but it’s a beautiful idea - the viewer can maneuver about the space to observe the dancers from all angles.
The Neubauten track itself is, well… a bit stringey (I was expecting something more percussive, in the lines of their previous collaborations with dance companies) but I suppose that’s in keeping with the inspiration. NU Unruh plays the Bicycle, which I have not heard performed so eloquently since Kraftwerk’s Tour De France Soundtracks!

This week in the Movement Collective, Lydia Chrisman will share compositional improvisation techniques she learned from former guest artist Richard Siegal during her FWT working with him in Bangalore. No experience is necessary. Come explore methods of spontaneous movement creation! We will be in one of the upstairs dance studios in VAPA this Friday from 1:15 to 2 pm.
