Post run recovery. 7.5 is a lotta miles on a Tuesday morning. :/ #runrva #momsontherun #richmondhalfmarathon2016
Around the mile and a half point of my run, the feelings of resentment could no longer keep up and I found myself thinking about all the ways running and parenting are similar. Here's what I realized. Would love to hear from other running parents: 1- There's a moment in the long run that matches the moment in childbirth when you think you're just not sure you can do this. But then the realize you have no choice. You're four miles from home and it'd be faster to run back than wait for someone to pick you up. 2- We all have doubts at times. But It really doesn't matter if you run fast or slow, walk some and walk none... You are a runner. Whether by epidural, drug free, section, adoption, or none of the above / none of your business. You are a mom. Wear that badge. 3- It's a good idea to know where the best port-a-potties are along the route. 4- The road ahead often looks like forever but the miles behind flew past. Best to keep your feet and your attention on the ground where you are. Potholes will get you. 5- Even when you're on the road alone, know that you are not alone on the path. #youarearunner #momsontherun #mindfulness #runrva #richmondhalfmarathon2016
