This one is for music producer Rick Parashar, who passed away 8/14/14 at the too young age of 50. May he rest in peace. He produced much of the soundtrack of my teenage years, most notably Pearl Jam’s Ten, the Temple of the Dog album, Alice in Chains’ Sap and Blind Melon's debut album. My personal favorite song that he produced is Yellow Ledbetter, which I recall being the 2nd take… Maybe he knew no one would understand the words, but the emotion was raw, the mood was surreal and dreamlike, and all of the instruments and Eddie’s voice were just captured so beautifully. But I am choosing the following not-quite-so-recognized song to honor him because, as with the whole album it’s from, he captured all of the sonic mayhem with vivid clarity. When I listen to this, it’s clear that Rick didn’t want the sound of the bass guitar to go unnoticed… Bless him for that alone!
