NRSC invokes ‘The Medicare Lie’ against Rick Weiland—Alas, if repetition made it so!

The NRSC is running an attack ad against South Dakota Senate candidate Rick Weiland. In it, they invoke the Medicare Lie, claiming that because he supports Obamacare—and therefore accessible and affordable healthcare for all South Dakotans and all Americans—he wants to cut Medicare by $700 billion. Politifact alone has debunked this vicious lie almost fifty times! Several of those fact checks were targeted specifically at the NRSC for using this lame old lie. Apparently, the truth is not a factor for them, when running such baseless ads.

Rick Weiland, South Dakota's Hypocrite Of The Year

According to a new report in the Capital Journal, Democrat Senate candidate Rick Weiland's (D-SD) fundraising numbers show that approximately 71 percent of his total campaign contributions have come from out-of-state donors.

Weiland is second only to Rounds in fundraising among candidates, according to the latest FEC filings. In total, he has raised $232,968 in identifiable contributions. But compared to Rounds, an even greater percentage of Weiland's totals - approximately 71 percent, or $165,000 - has come from outside South Dakota. About $67,000 has been given to Weiland by South Dakota residents or committees.

But wait! Just last year Weiland was out on the campaign trail giving stump speeches against political campaigns that were funded by out-of-state money.

WEILAND: "I think South Dakotans want to talk to the people that want to represent them, and not have to watch a bunch of political ads that have been paid for by big money, special interest, out-of-state donors."

It's only January, but it's safe to say that Rick Weiland is South Dakota's hypocrite of the year.

SD Democrat Bashes Out-Of-State Fundraising, Goes To DC To Fundraise

The Washington Post reported that Rick Weiland (D-SD) will be in D.C. tonight at a fundraiser hosted by Sen. Tim Johnson and former Sen. Tom Daschle.

However, on the stump, Weiland claims that South Dakotans don't want to see their representatives air campaign ads paid for by "out-of-state" money.

Weiland has also said that "big banks" are "controlling what's being decided in Washington, D.C." But, what does Weiland have to say about Sen. Tim Johnson, whose top donors include the "big banks?"
