Baseball and It's Magic
On Thursday evening there was a nationally televised baseball game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the San Francisco Giants at historic Rickwood Field in Alabama. Rickwood Field is the oldest ballpark in our nation and hosted some of the greatest to ever play the game. Just by unfortunate circumstance the game lost it's greatest living legend two day prior. I'm referring to Willie Mays. His accomplishments speak for themselves. It was great to see those who are still around that had played there, either in the Negro League or coming up through the A's organization, especially Reggie Jackson who recounted the negative memories of playing in the south during the days of segregation. The game itself was enjoyable to watch however I feel that it was rightfully foreshadowed by the history of the ballpark.
