Those You've Known || Closed || Rick & Lori
Take a deep breath, Lori. Take a deep breath. Just because these...strange and disgusting words are coming out of your parents' mouth, doesn't make it true.
Blinking her big brown eyes open, Lori Bryant stared at her family staring intently at her. Her brother scoffed in disbelief. "This is bullshit. You guys can't give Lori away to the highest bidder." He glared at the couple in front of he and his sister, the brunette girl looking down at her feet.
"I won't do it. Carl's right. I'm not marryin' anyone. I don't care how much this guy bought me for. I won't do it." She hissed, glaring icily at her father. "I don't know who this Rick is."
Her heart beat wildly in her chest. Not but five minutes ago, she was her own person. Lori Bryant, freshman in college, getting her degree in journalism. She was single--not attached to anyone.
And now her parents have sold her to a "Rick Grimes." To be married.
"Lori-Belle, you're gonna be financially stable...w-we can't afford to send ya to school much longer, not with Carl's acceptance into Law School." Her mother tried to explain to her, her face contorted with discomfort. "H-He and his father are comin' over for dinner...go get dressed and nice lookin'."
The brunette glared at her family and stormed upstairs to her bedroom, slamming the door shut, throwing herself onto her big canopy bed.
"Fuck that guy!" She screamed into her pilllow. She laid there for awhile, swallowed by anger. This wasn't the old days, they didn't really do arranged marriages anymore. She just wanted to go through school, wanted to become a writer...
She dressed herself and stomped downstairs and sat at the table, pouring herself a glass of her father's scotch, throwing it down her throat in anger. "Damn squirt..." Her brother snorted, sitting next to her. "I'll make this asshole not want you." He grinned, kissing her head conspiratorially.
"I can't believe they sold me...and to some guy I haven't even met...This fuckin' blows."
