She knew that the moment she laid eyes on him that this wasn't going to end up good. Their most recent feud was so fresh in her mind, his face was enough to cause her to see red. However, as all royalty are made to do, she maintained a regal appearance -- save for the slight tightening of her jaw and raise of her chin. Gathering the skirts of her dress, Emma stepped forward and approached her seat.
"Afternoon," she greeted with practiced poise, a strained smile on her lips as her gaze flickered to Colonello. Sucking in a discreet breath, she settled into the cushioned chair, legs quick to cross one another before her hands settled into her lap. Casting a brief glance toward her mother, her lips pushed together before turning to her father -- the more reasonable of the two. There was a pleading hint to her eyes, knowing very well that if this went on -- whatever this was -- it wasn't going to end good on her part.
However, when the doors swung open, her body twisted around to see their trusted adviser step into the room. Gold regarded them for a long moment, and the near sneer which seemed to linger at the corner of his mouth was nothing but unsettling. Biting her tongue, however, the Princess shifted in her seat once more. No matter how many times her gaze wandered the room, they, not once, settled on Colonello.
"Here are the documents you have requested, Your Majesty." The man set the small stack of papers before them, catching Emma's eyes as he retracted his hand.
"Documents for what, Gold?"
"Why, your wedding, dearie. Congratulations." Dark eyes flickering between the two heirs, he swallowed down a chuckle before he ducked out of the room, almost as quickly as he had came.
"Excuse me, wedding? What the Hell is he talking about?" All sense of formality had been dropped as she slapped her palm against the table, leaning forward in her seat before she tossed her mother an incredulous stare.
Letting out a heavy sigh, Snow pinched the bridge of her nose before shaking her head at them; she did not want Emma to find out like that. Not that either way was any better, but it could have been handled a little better. Pasting a smile on ruby lips, the Queen looked between the two before she beamed at them:
"We have decided that, in order to bring peace to our kingdoms, you two are to be married. I know it seems like much, but this is a really good thing."
A look of disbelief crossed Emma's features as she sat back in her seat, arms moving to cross her chest. Finally bringing her gaze to Colonello, a scoff escaped her as she gave a sharp shake of her head, "You've got to be kidding me."
