It's been over three years since the idea for a beaded piece inspired by macrame first wormed itself into my brain, and over a year since I first specially ordered the beads. Thank you @rochellejay_sparklylife for aiding me in my quest for Toho 612 in size 8. I don't think I'll ever forget those numbers! This project became such a bear, I definitely didn't anticipate how much work it would take when I started. I'm so pleased with the texture and the color and the way it hangs in the corner I've put it in. Before and after. We picked up some galvanized tubs to use as planters, and they came with these bottle-openers, so I decided to bead one for the gift exchange held between volunteers at the #penlandschoolofcraft annual benefit auction. . This is mainly #gourdstitch with a little bit of #rightangleweave for strategic structure. . Still dealing with a cold, but starting to feel better. Remade the #pixelart test using 15/0 #seedbeads and it was way more effort than the first test using 8/0 #beads . . Working on a loom for this sort of thing would be way less mentally taxing, but having done this, there are distinct advantages to using #rightangleweave . The main reason I’ve been using it instead of other stitches is that large piece of right-angle-woven seed beads drapes amazingly. It’s not like a brick stitch or gourd stitch or even a loom woven piece which are all stiff and have a bias in how they folds and drape. . The reason I’m excited about this is that if I ever feel masochistic enough to make another piece of purely #beadwoven clothing, I could more easily design a pattern by working in a grid instead of trying to come up with a design using the box/crosses pattern inherent in right-angel-weave (which is what I did for the vest). . I have to admit that the allure of wearing something that is so over the top fabulous and decadent as a purely bead woven garment will likely push me to making another piece of clothing at some point in the future. . #beads #beadweaving https://www.instagram.com/p/ByNnAmKHqha/?igshid=jcsv4d5v548g
