What rigorous work are your students doing?
Share the greatness going on in your classrooms! To get a clear pulse on where we are towards our Quarter One targets around engaging science labs and rigorous math problems, read the relevant descriptions of the task ahead of you:
SCIENCE CMs
If your students have engaged in a hands-on lab exercise (application- or discovery-based), submit a brief blog post about it to me via email. This would include the objective, a description of the activity, how you monitored and assessed student understanding, and overall lessons learned about implementation. (Pictures are always helpful, too.)
If your students have not engaged in a hands-on lab exercise, stay tuned for some amazing ideas from your teammates. Look ahead to the next couple of weeks and ask yourself where you could push yourself to implement a lab.
MATH CMs
If your students shown mastery of content using rigorous free-response items, submit a brief blog post to me via email outlining what objective(s) the item assessed, why this was a rigorous bar for your students, and overall lessons learned about implementation. (Pictures of some sample student work are very valuable.)
If your students have not engaged with rigorous free-response assessment items, recall some of the items we looked at during our EOY conversations, look ahead to the next couple of weeks and ask yourself where you could push yourself to assess your students in this manner.
