Dark Discoveries - Closed w/ @murdxrxfcrxws
Another new city, another set of opportunities, or that was the hope at least. The last city had been somewhat of a bust due to to, in her view, overbearingly stringent religious restrictions on development or sharing of arcane knowledge, but this new city, despite the presence of similar clergies, was far less strict with such things, and she is hopeful that she will be able to learn at least some new knowledge from the local arcane university. Now how to get an invitation or audience...
As she muses on this during an evening walk, something of catches her attention out of the corner of her eye, though when she looks she has a hard time discerning what she is seeing. To her mundane vision, the shadows deep in the alley between two of the taller buildings around look normal, if fairly dark. To the vision of her magically scarred, glowing eye, however, the shadows almost seem to... glow, for lack of a better term, and yet seem as impenetrable as any darkness at the same time. The distinction defied explanation, and yet something was obviously there.
Of course, the wisest thing would be to keep her distance and investigate carefully, but her attention was grabbed at this point, her interest piqued. She slowly enters the alley, conjuring a small light to her hand as she searches the darkness for answers, the light kept dull as to not disturb the darkness or whatever may be inside. “Now, what are you? Doesn’t look like an illusionary darkness...”

“See, I told you I could make my flight spells go faster! And with zero loss of control as well.” Riisha declares triumphantly as she races around the area happily, the flight spell she is using going much faster than she normally would. As she slows to a stop above Kengou, presumably expecting receive his admittance that he was wrong, however, the flight spell suddenly gives out quite prematurely. The sorceress lets out a short yelp and falls the 5 or so feet to crash right atop Kengou rather unceremoniously.

Riisha hums thoughtfully as she looks around the carefully selected forest clearing, the center of which has been blasted clear and replaced with flat stone, and the area lit by floating arcane lights that cut through the nighttime darkness. Her mismatched eyes carefully inspect the densely packed curving lines and esoteric runes form a complex arcane circle around the flattened area, punctuated at different points by rare reagents and component matrices that are certainly meant for multiple spells.
Her review of the area eventually completes, and her thoughtful expression shifts to an excited grin. “That... that should do it. Almost there!” With that, she quickly begins moving to different spots across the circle, careful not to disturb any of the reagents as she rattles off several spells in quick succession, causing different parts of the circle to start to glow. The glows begin to overlap and brighten one by one, creating a veritable kaleidoscopic beacon firing off into the night sky. Quite enraptured with her task, however, Riisha could care less who it might attract in this moment.

Riisha glances up from the book she is reading as she hears the door of the library open, internally letting out a sigh. It had been a mercifully slow day, which had allowed her to get immersed in her own book. This is nice, of course, but it does mean some inherent irritation when she is expected to, you know, do her job. Still, the fact that the visitor is pretty cute, noticed as she sets the book aside, does help. “Hi, welcome in! Can I help you find anything?”
“Now, I may not have been born with fangs, but thankfully, as a mage...”
“Fangs are always an option.”
The red horned, blonde man leaned back on his comfortable large chair, contemplating the situation and giving strong, curious, but friendly looks to the woman.
"I have to admit, Riisha... You do catch me by surprise. I don't get hired by sorcerers much anymore, and especially not for tag along missions. It means you are aiming for something valuable, powerful, and dangerous enough to consider the added help..." His lips turned to a smile, and a grin.
"I'm game. Tell me more about it, it's been a while since i was last desired for something challenging."
"Oh, well, it's good that you're looking for something challenging, actually!" The much smaller blonde woman replies with a laugh, leaning forward in her own chair with her elbows resting on her knees. "Because admittedly, my plan is pretty risky, and even if it goes as well as I hope, there's going to be some rough patches, hence me looking to get some help."
And the man across from her definitely looks like he can help, by her estimation. Even beyond his reputation, he is a full 3 feet taller than her, before one takes in his other features. "Now, admittedly I can't promise anything more than a cut of what we find, but if we succeed, it should be a king's ransom worth of gold and treasures. Assuming I'm doing a good job of keeping your attention, I do have to ask..." At this, she hesitates for a moment, glancing around before continuing.
"What experience do you have, if any, with dragons?"

There is the sound of a relatively distant pop, quickly followed by a much closer flash and pop as a certain blonde sorceress comes careening out of the short teleportation spell, rather unluckily aimed right at the armored figure walking nearby. She tries to change direction or yell a warning, but all she manages to get out is a panicked cry before plowing into them. Thankfully, she’s not going that fast, and she is pretty small, but it’s not the lightest impact.
