Loki listened with a hand over his mouth as if in thought but his eyes were blank. He nodded along while the kid kept going with his story, the words picking up speed at it progressed. Suddenly the god held up a had, stopping Peter mid-sentence. “Fascinating. Can we skip to the part where you actually tell me what happened? Remember boy, the truth will set you free… Unless you did eat my slice of pie.”

“ ━━ it couldn’t have been me becau━”

As soon as Loki held his hand up, Peter pressed his lips together, his brows straight as if he was just as curious about what was going on. In truth, the boy was struggling to be convincing and he was sure Loki saw straight through him! Peter heard enough about the other to know that the chances of tricking him were . . . slim.

“I━uh . . . no,” as soon as he denied it Peter was sure he saw something cross Loki’s features. Peter wasn’t sure if Loki figured him out already or if he was bluffing . . . making Peter think he knew but he didn’t and now he was giving himself up!

“Okay,” he finally mumbled as the thoughts in his own head got too loud, “Thor said there was a slice for me,” he admitted, gesturing to the side, “I thought it was mine . . . ”

It had been nearly three years since Wanda had walked back through the Bifrost. She told herself she would never go back to Midgard for any reason, let alone under cover of darkness whilst pleading with Heimdall never to reveal where she was to anyone. She’d arrived back on Earth and gone straight to the Avengers. She’d not told them the full story of exactly where she’d been and who she’d been with, but they didn’t seem bothered now they had found her. It had been agreed that she could live in New York and raise her baby, provided she check in with the Avengers regularly to placate the US government. 

7 months after that, she’d given birth to her daughter. Her beautiful, enchanting daughter. Life since then had been fairly normal compared to the three years prior. She did the whole single mother routine dutifully, the whole time hoping that Heimdall had kept his promise. She had just finished putting her child down to sleep when there was a knock at the door. Expecting the mailman or her next door neighbour, she went to answer it quickly before they woke the baby. Neither were waiting for her at the door. 

“Loki.” She breathed in something like resignation and relief. She had always known she couldn’t hide forever.

He heard the trickster on the other side of the door as Tony quickly stumbled out of the shower to grab a towel trying to cover himself. Loki had terrible timing and Tony thought he was just known for his terrible manners and unforgivable favor, he’d definitely have to have bad timing added to the list as soon as he was done with him. “I’m so naked in here.” He shouted through the door as he finally got the towel secure on his hips. 

Finally he stepped out of the bathroom and looked to Loki. “Your timing sucks, you know that?”
