day out at Sullenberger Aviation Museum and the airport overlook park yesterday! the museum is basically ON airport property, so it's smack between a set of taxiways and one of the main runways! C: saw a lot of neat aircraft and exhibits, learned a lot, and spent some quality time with my partner <3 took a TON of photos and a few videos (which i'll probably post separately) and luckily the weather was really nice!
photos in order, as best i can recall the proper names:
Trojan, early fighter aircraft + C130 just out of frame (left) and Gulfstream behind (that T tail in the bg)
DC-3 from Piedmont Airlines
American Airlines CRJ (i thiiiink it was a CRJ... some kinda regional i know that much) doing engine run-up on the tarmac near the museum
cockpit of an F4 Phantom, one of the FOUR aircraft cockpits you can climb into! others include another fighter jet (Shooting Star iirc) with a sim set up in it, a Boeing 727 procedure training cockpit, and a Cessna 150
F4 Phantom on static display at the overlook park
American Airlines plane over the city skyline and airport building C:
Southwest coming off 36R
United coming off 36R
Spirit just after landing 36R
broader shot of an AA heritage livery, their "Astrojet" one from the 60s-70s! shout out to my husband for figuring that one out c: we also saw their Pacific Southwest livery!
goofy chunky little plane plush i got from the museum <3
Rin jumpscare (partner likes to get candid shots lol)
I (5'5") fit in a Cessna 150, barely, we learned my partner (6'3") does NOT lmao
we did the museum in the morning and spent a good few hours there before heading over to the park. the weather got hotter as time went on and we wound up hanging out for another few hours and had dinner from one of the food trucks c: a pretty good day!
