You groaned, rolling over in bed, arm reaching out instinctively, only to come out empty; making you sigh and open your eyes. The other side of the bed was empty, like it was six out of the seven days of the week, devoid of the love of your life.
Henry got up every morning at the butt crack of four-thirty am, to get in his work outs and whatever else he needed to do, before getting off to the studio to film his latest project. You were used to him being up so early, always awake and gone, while you were still warm and dreaming beside him. The two of you had been dating for three years, and it was all a routine at this point. Even though you still felt that small sad and lonely stab in your heart for him, to wake up to him more often in the mornings.
But, shoving it away, you tossed back the blankets and got out of bed, padded into the bathroom to relieve your screaming bladder and came back out to an excited Akita.
“Morning, Kal.” You smiled at the Bear, leaning down to give him scratches and kisses, when you heard a notification on your phone, resting on your nightstand.
Moving away from Kal, you picked up your phone and found the alert was from the Ring doorbell alarm that was installed on the front door of the house. Opening up the video file, you grinned instantly seeing Henry stepping out of the front door, a travel coffee mug in one hand and his bag slung across his body, as he locked the front door, dressed in warm clothing as it was frosty outside. But, before Henry turned towards his car parked in the driveway, he turned towards the Ring camera and grinned at it.
“I love you, babe.” He said into it. “I hope you have a good day, and I'll see you when I get home.” He promised, before pursing his lips in a kiss, and turned to go.
Your heart melted as you watched him get into his car, grinning like mad at your phone's screen. “Some things never change.” You chuckled, shaking your head.
Henry had left you videos like this from the first night you had spent together. You had an amazing night, after your fourth date, and invited Henry into your place, one thing led to another and you slept together. The next morning, Henry was there for a little while with you, but you had fallen back to sleep and woke alone, though he left you his first video, texting it to you, telling you how much he loved the night the two of you had and reiterated that he loved you, a confession he made in the middle of your love making, and that he would be back soon, with breakfast.
And another round of amazing love making.
Every morning since then, for the last three years, without fail, whether the pair of you were together or a world away, Henry always made and sent a good morning video to you, either with his phone or on the Ring doorbell. It made you fall in love with him more and more each time, your silly, thoughtful and romantic man, always so busy, but never too busy to remind you he loved you and was thinking of you.
“How in the whole wide world did we get so lucky to have him, Kal?” You asked, looking down at the Akita, who stared up at you. “God, I love him.” You grinned fondly at the image of him on your phone.
