ART TIPS FROM RINI ♪(๑ᴖ◡ᴖ๑)♪ - Shading >:3
older one is on the left, newer one on the right!
it’s so simple to make your shading more interesting >;)
i don’t use opacity or another layer for shades, i put the render and shade on the same layer
whenever im making something darker, i ALWAYS move my cursor on the art wheel go towards the left (so if im on red/orange, i’d move towards pink instead of getting a darker oranger/red color to shade)
but if you’re in the dark blue section, then i suggest going towards purple to shade :)
this applies with everything! clothes, hair, skin
How i applied it to this drawing
this drawing, if you color drop it, you’re probably gonna get blue’s for the darker parts of the lavender hair!
notice how the skin render is a bit more red than brown, that makes the skin look a bit more interesting and less dull
the clothes too! the shade is more purple than pink, especially more purple compared to the base color :)
color wise, this drawing is much more boring to look at, the lavender is simply darker but has no personality
the shadows on the skin make it look grey and dull
