YOU. YOU ARE MY NEW FRIEND. THESE ASKS. HOLY FUCK YES. I’VE BEEN MEANING TO TALK ABOUT THIS THANK YOU FOR OPENING THE GATES. 

ALSO YES TO IKEMEN RUI. I am 100% certain that behind her disaster lesbianism and her socially anxious state, she has the potential to be an ikemen. Also she has what every wlw loves in a girl, a fucking sword. Okay so lets roll the facts first for this. Number one, when she can be, Rui can be actually really stern and scary shown by the Tengu Trickster memoir and her theatre story with Yuyuko where Yuyuko is eating Tamao’s lunch. She has the potential to be intimidating but in a fuck, shes kinda hot way. (The tall factor adds on to this). Second, the only time Rui feels most confident with herself is with a sword and behind a mask, which is thankfully what Kendo has, she stated before in the martial and dramatic arts memoir that when she put on the mask, she becomes an entirely different version of herself. Which probably means she becomes more serious, more confident etc etc. She also feels more connected to her ghost patrol character, who is more rugged and unrefined swordsmaster which probably allows her to act more crass than usual, giving her that exposure she might want to try but never letting her be due to her anxiety. SO. With that out of the way, with her grandfather teaching her kendo, I’m assuming he runs the dojo as as his granddaughter, Rui is a personal student and probably is higher up in like the respect category. Add on the fact that she won a couple of competition before, Rui may probably already have fan girls already who is both a fan of cool confident kendo girl Rui and the lovable dork off stage. (She doesn’t know or if she does she becomes too modest to ever say it) She would likely follow in Tamao’s footsteps of helping others, so Rui would probably be helping her kouhais in Kendo, probably flustering them even more. Because Ichie is Ichie. Ichie will probably figure out where Rui does Kendo and with Yuyuko and Fumi because she will drag them along as well, they would see this version of Rui. Confident kendo girl on set and helpful senpai to her kouhai. Yuyuko who reads books will mention Ikemen, Ichie is like oh my god yes! let’s turn Rui into an ikeman. And the shenanigan begins. (Fumi disagrees with them initially but she’s really curious as well and wants to help Rui with her confidence)It starts with Ichie “Pranking” Rui by taking all her clothes, forcing her to wear some gakurans Ichie somehow managed to get much to Rui’s embarrassment despite every other girl in her class keeps like looking at her and gushing. Yuyuko assures her its not because they’re making fun of her, its because she looks really attractive, Rui in turn asks if Yuyuko thinks the same and she’s like looking away, not really wanting to answer. Rui is like ahhhh sorry if I asked a weird question but Yuyuko cuts her off with a quiet yes much to Rui’s flustered amazement. (Yuyuko wants to both stab and thank Ichie for this). Meanwhile, Tamao finds out and scolds Ichie for this prank, saying it’s too far. Ichie gets the message and never does it again. But Rui comes in and Tamao is like both taken aback and is like- oh. This is new. She compliments that despite the prank, Rui looks really good in it much to Rui’s enjoyment and Tamao just focuses on something else because, she’s a disaster lesbian and is not honest about her feelings. But it’s okay, Tamao liking her new look is enough for the gay kendo girl. Secret but only to Rui, Rui fanclub back in the dojo, loves the new look. Someone probably like gives her a gift afterwards and whilst super flustered about it, Rui accepts the gift but not the feelings and compliments the girl for her courage and efforts,  making said girl freak out because cool senpai is complimenting her. They talk a bit about Rui and her crush on her own senpai and the girl is like, if you keep this up I’m sure she would like you back! She would be stupid not to! Which prompts Rui to actually try this Ikemen idea Ichie has.And So. There’s the set up to a bunch of shenanigans of Yuyuko, Ichie and Fumi teaching Rui to be more cool and confident and ikemen esque. Whilst getting flustered and gay in return because now they made Rui more powerful. (Can also open up to like Poly rinmeikan as well) She still becomes a shy awkward mess most of the time but when it matters, Rui can be an Ikemen and steal hearts, eventually Tamao’s (and everyone else’s in a poly rinmeikan route). So yeah, that’s my take on Ikemen Rui. A bit of a long ramble but oh well. I’ve been thinking about these girls a lot. Also fun fact! In a secret Au, I got with my friend, Rui is kinda ikemen like. Still fairly anxious and easily flustered butttt she has a fanclub. (More info about Au will be shared when we write the fics about it lmao).

Fluff:

- When they share thier first kiss, Rui doesn’t stop smiling for the whole day and literally gets so giddy like a puppy it’s too cute

-sometimes in certain situations but mostly very rarely Rui gets a boost of confidence and becomes ikemen Rui and becomes forward with Tamao like steal a kiss or something or makes Tamao flustered

-When Tamao and Rui goes to Tamao’s town to meet her parents again (because they met in middle school) Tamao’s parents are like Ha! I won the bet dear! Much to Tamao’s embarrassment

-Likewise When Rui shares the news to her family, her older cousin (an oc I made) challenges Tamao for a Kendo duel to prove her worth for Rui as a joke and Rui actually gets angry at him for thinking a) he can chose what she wants b) thinking Tamao isn’t worthy for her (when really it’s the other way round in Rui’s eyes) and fights him instead and wins

-Tamao is the small spoon most of the time but they switch sometimes

-Rui’s unwavering loyalty and support is what Tamao needs to not be so scared of change and to be less of a doormat which allows her to open her heart a bit more and challenge other people

-It’s also that unwavering admiration that allows Tamao to love herself a bit more because like what white day shown, it’s easy for her to be self hate due to insecurities or other stuff (like loneliness)

-Tamao’s gentle care and encouragement is also what made Rui to try out new things and be more confident with herself

-Tamao’s patience and natural care in keeping an eye on people helps Rui recognise and manage her anxiety and the signs when she’s really anxious

Angst:

-The reason why Kaoruko struck a nerve with Tamao in the fight with not being honest with herself causing her to snap at Rui is because Kaoruko is right

-Leading onto that, consider the painful au where Tamao is aware of Rui’s feelings for her but holds back and pretends ignorance because she’s scared to lose her close friendship (even though she may feel the same way)

-Both girls suffer from the same problem aka, the person I like deserves someone more better than me which is why they’re hesitant to share their feelings leading to this angsty mutual pining

-One time Rui got so angry and hurt because Tamao didn’t take care of herself and not asking for help because Rui is right there, Rui will do anything for Tamao and help her, why can’t she see that!? And actually snaps at Tamao which she would never do outside of a play. Of course Rui feels bad straight away and so does Tamao and they eventually make up but they don’t talk for an entire day to settle their feelings and it’s just jarring for everyone else

-(more of an au idea) but Tamao suffers from heteronormativity after being taught at a young age that she would get married to a man like a ‘traditional woman would’ so it took her a long time to realise that a) she is allowed to like girls b) she platonic endearment on Rui is a romantic crush

-Rui gets really bad nightmares due to her anxiety that she would stop being friends with Tamao or like get a lot of hate for liking her. She gets bad sleep over it and never talks about it with Tamao until they get together so Tamao gets worried when Rui talks to other people about her problems that cant be shared to her which makes her think she done something wrong to upset her

How would a Fumi vs Ichie revue go about? The conflict that would lead up to it, the setting of the revue, even the song, things like that.

I like went fully off with this lmao. So it’s pretty long and I’m on my phone so I’m sorry if the format is shit.

I never thought much about it in all honesty. Also heads up idk shit about music. But I think a potential conflict could be about the goals of the top star. In her self introduction, Fumi desires that top star. One day she will get it and it links towards her sister. We don’t know why she wants it all we know is that she really wants it.

“One day I will be Top Star.”

Ichie in turn, wants to entertain people. She wants them to feel things, she wants people to be okay and she wants people to open up and not bottle anything deep inside (that’s what I saw in a bond story somewhere). Maybe she speaks from experience? Who knows. Despite the simple thinking and lazy kinda care free attitude, Ichie is actually really perceptive. She was able to notice a lot of things about her surroundings and other people. Even in the white day event she figured out who Banana was and who Karen wants to give her white gift to. She’s not that book smart, people smart however? She’s very good at that.

So I head canon that if the individuals revues do come along, Ichie would notice that Fumi is working hard, even more than before. She would also notice that she’s hiding something and that there’s this weight to her that looks like she’s carrying the entire world. Ichie would try her best to help her and like open up but Fumi won’t let her in for some plot related reason.

Also if Ichie is like being friends with Karen might get a warning of what’s going to happen with the damn giraffe. Which gives Ichie more incentive to stop Fumi because she cares about her friend and she knows that Fumi would regret it if she continued. Fumi might not believe her because she just doesn’t want to see and believe something bad would happen lmao. At the end of the day they do the revue with the conflict of Care? Compassion?? Idk the main theme name but it’s basically

Fumi, with her secret goals being top star and not letting people in vs Ichie, with her perceptive eyes knowing that this won’t help any of them/ wanting everyone to be okay, especially Fumi.

The revue goes like this:

It’s Ichie has control of the stage first, the background references her idol days. The really eally great fumIchie artist Jacket on twitter mentioned that jpop would be there in a fumIchie revue and I honestly agree. The beat upbeat and Ichie is playing hide and run away with Fumi. She dances along to the song like it’s a performance, like it’s a game. Fumi thinks shes not taking this seriously which angers her but Ichie is taking it seriously in her own way. She’s observing Fumi, trying to get use to her swordbreaker dagger. She knows in a big close up fight she would lose so she dodges and gets a good hit every once in a while.

Then Fumi breaks the idol stage. The stage is now hers. The idol music is now soft, muted in some ways as a heavier beat pulses in the air. The lights fade and Ichie is in the dark confused, the light flashes back just in time for Fumi’s solo. She’s above Ichie on a pedestal, she has a scary look in her eye. It reminds Ichie of the siegfeld girls. Ichie swallows hard. And runs. Fumi doesn’t let her though, the stage doesn’t let her. Ichie is on the back burner several times as large pillars of pedestals block her. The stage is becoming a maze. A game of cat and mouse. Fumi attacks her from different angles like an assassin would. Still, she doesn’t get the hit to win.

Then in a locked combat and some tense words, Ichie manages to break free and pushes Fumi back, hard enough that it shakes the wall. Then it falls and the maze crumbles. In the smoke Ichie runs away and when Fumi clears the smoke. Ichie’s stage is in control again. But it’s not the idol land like before. The music returns but it has an acoustic/ strings and wind vibe to it, something similar to rinmiekan usual songs.

It’s the ghost patrol setting.

They fight again and Ichie runs, Fumi gives chase.

Now it’s the bridge with benki and yoshitune in Kyoto from the school trip.

Ichie is using the stage to jump through the memories of their stage, of their memories. Ichie’s brilliance shines the best here. It shines ethereal like in its pure honesty and intent. She wants everyone to be okay, she wants Fumi to be okay. Through her care and compassion and her brilliance Ichie wins on the stage of the white day event. Ichie sings the last note as piano or guitar accompany them. They hug it out and Ichie is there for Fumi who is probably really frustrated in losing.

Later on, they admire the cherry blossoms at night and Fumi opens up to Ichie and tells her about her desires to be top star. Ichie comforts her and it’s a nice soft moment. Ichie falls asleep, head leaning on Fumi’s shoulder, Fumi covers for her and let’s her sleep at her place because Ichie went over to her to check how she’s doing without telling anyone.

Some lines of dialogue that might be included:

Fumi as she’s chasing Ichie through ichie idol land: Is this a game to you Ichie? (When gets nothing in reply because Ichie doesn’t want to waste her strength) Answer me!!

Fumi, when it’s her stage now: I’m not running away anymore!

Ichie, just before she pushes Fumi into the wall and breaks her maze: I only want the best for you!

How would Ichie prank the other stage girls? Specifically the Seigfried girls? Would she survive their wrath?

Oh man op, this is gonna be hard to answer because I’m terrible with pranks lmao. So I really can’t say what would Ichie do, but I can say how they might react. 

 Frontier will take it with stride mostly, they would probably compliment Ichie for her prank and probably do one back.

 Seisho wouldn’t mind too much, depending on who got hit, I’m sure most of them won’t particularly mind as it’s just a harmless prank and doesn’t do anything wrong. They might get one back though. 

 Siegfeld??? Most likely dislikes it, Yachiyo if she’s not the target would find it funny, maybe Mei Fan depending on what it is. Michiru would probably look and act nice about it but secretly hates it. Shiori might be hmmm and worries about Fumi if this person is her friend and rightfully assumes that Fumi gets targeted a lot with these pranks. Akira would probably scorn it and wouldn’t understand why a stage girl would waste their time on silly things like this. They probably wouldn’t retaliate because Akira is would like, we shouldn’t stoop to their level and waste time that could’ve been used to practise.
