Every time people imply the next season will focus on Mike's supposed grief over Eddie it affirms that most people are going by fanfic at this point. It's like we live in a doomed cycle. This is what I said in my other asks (you didn't respond to lol but its okay) when people want Mike to basically have all of other Party members' roles. At this point just get rid off Dustin, Will, Jonathan, Lucas, Max, Nancy and even El because apparently Mike will have all of these characters roles and arcs in S5.
My bad, homie! I will get to you. I'm just in a writing rut, plus work is mentally draining.
(And I have 120+ anons)
As defacto leader, Mike is a character defined by his relationships to others. This is why he is connected to many plots. What people dislike is that his narrative arc is founded on his relationship with El, and Will, but mostly El.
That's not going to suddenly change in S5. Instead of buckling up for the inanity, people are buckling down on this idea that Mike has 10+ plot lines that are suddenly going to be revealed in S5--during Mike's Duffer-sponsored apology tour. Anything to escape the reality of a lackluster, not revolutionary, storyline.
Like I've said before, these people don't actually like Mike. If you need to treat a character like "Build-A-Plot," that should be a signal that you're dissatisfied with his story at a fundamental level.
It's just the facts!
