Although I did not get the chance to adventure and take as many photos this year as in the years’ past, I’m still grateful for these magical moments from the mountains this year that I will never forget, and thankful for the opportunity to cross off a few things off my bucket-list that have been waiting for a few years now.

Five Photos for 2018

So I rarely post new photos, mainly because I’m lazy and have better things to do. More plants mean more work or something like that.

I will make a post of my favorite plant photos of the year later. Each of these photos came from my phone, which has seen a lot more photographic action lately. These are the 5 photos I chose to sum up my 2018 experience.

A perfect sign at one my favorite beaches.

A pile of ashes in front of my classroom. This was from just a tiny little fire. A baby fire. Guess what? London Bridge is not the only thing burning down.

I teach middle school. This sign sums up everything both amazing and not-so-amazing about middle school. This is pretty much every day.

A motherfuckin cork oak growing on the side of the road in Concord, CA. How many thousands of people drive by and don’t get it?

Meanwhile, in the garden, every day be like.... How you doin?

My top 5 from 2019

Although I didn’t take as many photos this year as I would have hoped for, I’m still super thankful to have had a chance to continue my current “quest” to see as many glaciers as possible before they’re gone. So unsurprisingly my “top” photos are from these icy adventures. Not necessarily because they’re the best photos, but because they’re the photos that capture moments I’ll remember the most from this year.

My top 5 from 2018

Every year that I make this post I struggle to not only pick just five photos, because every year there tends to be more and more photos to choose from, but I also struggle to decide what I consider to be “top”. Should it be the best photo that looks the best, the photo that I put the best idea into, or maybe the most difficult to capture? So many ways to interpret a word, but this year I’m going with the top 5 most memorable photos that I’ll remember from this year.  I’m incredibly thankful to have had such a wonderful year, where first I got to finally experience the sunset in Prague that I’ve been chasing for years, plus I got to see the incredible fjords of Norway. Then in the second half I got to cross off an item off the bucket list by seeing the sunrise by the Matterhorn, then I managed to take more photos that are a combination of landscape and portrait with a new friend. And finally, after one of the most exhausting hikes I’ve experienced, being able to see a sunset where the peaks were literally glowing was a great cherry on top.
