Today just wasn't Jonouchi's day. At least, the morning started out normal enough.
He was going to go visit Shizuka for the first time in a while. He finally managed to buy a car of his own with some of his dueling wins, and it was his first time driving it a substantial distance. Shizuka still lived two prefectures away, so the drive would've taken at least three hours.
Though, as the day wore on, things went from bad to worse. He had managed to get an hour out of Domino City when his GPS app decided to stop working. This caused him to make a wrong turn onto a back country road.
To make matters worse, Jou then ended up driving over several sharp rocks which caused two of his tires to go entirely flat. He pulled over to the side and shut off the engine. He promptly got out of the car with a loud curse. "Are ya shitting me...?!"
With a groan, he pocketed his keys and pulled out his phone again. There was still no signal anywhere to be found. "Guess I'm walking the rest of the way..." he grumbled.
After a ten minute walk, thunder crashed loudly overhead. "Shit--!" he cursed and began moving more briskly.
Thankfully, just as the rain began to pour down, he saw an isolated farmhouse up ahead. There was barbed wire fencing with an open driveway. The house looked old to say the least. It probably would've benefited from a new paintjob.
He saw the pick-up truck in the driveway and assumed at least someone was home. Hopefully, the person inside was nice. He didn't really have other options considering he was getting pelted by the rain.
Jonouchi ran up the driveway and onto the porch, his clothes and hair entirely drenched. He raised a hand to ring the doorbell before rubbing at his arms for warmth.
