The world woke up today to the sad news that Scott Walker, founder and lead singer of the Walker Brothers in the 1960s, has passed away.
According to publisher 4AD , “For half a century, the genius of the man born Noel Scott Engel has filled the lives of thousands of people, first as one of three The Walker Brothers and then as a solo artist, producer and songwriter of uncompromising originality.”
In the 60s, the Walker Brothers were several times at the top of the British charts and are known, above all, for their singles “Make it easy on yourself”, “The sun ain't gonna shine anymore” and even “My ship is coming in”.
For many, he was described as “one of the most enigmatic figures in pop rock”, having, in addition to being part of the Walker Brothers, released several albums such as Scott, Scott 2 , Scott 3 and Scott 4 .
In recent years little has been heard of Scott, however he has always remained active in the music world, either individually or in collaboration with other artists, having served as inspiration for musicians such as David Bowie, Jarvis Cocker (Pulp), Thom Yorke (Radiohead), Brian Eno, Richard Hawley and Marc Almond (Soft Cell). In 2017, the BBC honored Scott Walker with a Proms concert at London's Royal Albert Hall.
Scott deeply marked the music world and his legacy will never be forgotten.
