Prisoner, prisoner
We found you
We feel you breathing
Are you there?
Can you hear us calling you?
We'll never judge you
Woke up the news of another musician leaving us. Yesterday Dance Gavin Dance bassist Tim Feerick passed away suddenly. Only recently did we lose Taylor Hawkins from the Foos. Being a major DGD stan as many of you know, this is quite sad. Tim’s work on the bass became a massive element of the musicianship especially on Instant Gratification. He will be missed 😢 RIP Tim

Sloppy kisses, dirty wishes, baby, this is living
Roller-coaster, up and down in random motion
Oh, come in closer, ditch your problems, better days are coming
Get up off the wall, come on, get down, get down
Give into the moment and live now, live now ❣️ Dance Gavin dance / we own the night .

Dance Gavin Dance’s Tim Feerick has passed away…
Tragedy hit the Dance Gavin Dance camp when last week it was announced that long-time bassist Tim Feerick had passed away. The fanbase is still broken from this brutal loss of life. The band released this statement:
"This past week has been the most challenging time in Dance Gavin Dance's history. On Thursday, April 14th, we found out that we had lost Tim. While he was the bassist in the band, he was also our brother and best friend. Losing him is devastating. We were preparing to meet up this past weekend in Sacramento for a photoshoot and then rehearse this week ahead of Swanfest and the subsequent tour, when we heard the devastating news that he was no longer with us. After the initial shock and sadness, it wasn't long after that we were faced with some challenging decisions about the immediate future and our upcoming plans. After many internal discussions with our team and, most importantly, Tim's family, we have decided to perform this year's Swanfest and do the subsequent tour in honor and dedication to Tim. We will also move ahead with the announcement of our forthcoming album, later this week. The main factor of this decision came from knowing who Tim was as a person and what he would have wanted. We are confident that he would be very disappointed if we were to postpone or cancel these dates. We received further affirmation of this from Tim's parents, with their encouragement to perform these dates. In addition, music is our way of healing, and we, as the remaining members, desire to be together during this time and perform on stage to our fans the songs that he helped create. While no one can ever replace Tim or what he has brought to the band, we have asked Sergio Medina, a close friend to all of us and someone who has worked with Tim, to perform the bass duties for the upcoming shows. We are planning a memorial to Tim at Swanfest, and the entire festival will be in dedication to him, as will all the following shows on the tour. We look forward to celebrating his life with the fans. While this is an immense tragedy for everyone that loved and respected Tim, he would want everyone to come out, be together and enjoy the music. RIP Tim." -- Will, Matt, Jon, Tilian & Andrew (Dance Gavin Dance)
There is a saying in show business and it is “The show must go on” and it’s not to be callous and not to ignore the time for grieving. The thing is, this isn’t baking a fucking cake. This isn’t clearing a toilet. It’s not teaching a class. It’s not driving a truck. It’s not working in a factory or sitting in a cubicle. It is music. It is entertainment. Every single musician who signs up for this life knows what they’re getting themselves into as far as, what happens when you’re not around. Every musician I know has 1000 projects going, even if they’re not music-related. If Tim didn’t pass and needed time off, the band would’ve still gone on. Maybe you’re wondering why a band like DGD would play and a band like Foo Fighters would cancel everything. DGD is a working band. Foo Fighters were good to go monetarily decades ago. They can take the time. It really comes down to a few things. Any musician when asked if their band should continue if they passed would say yes, anyone who doesn’t is a fucking asshole or a liar or both. If faced with the idea of sitting at their house in the depression and grief vs. being with their best friends and making people feel incredible about their existence while giving all the love to you in the process… I feel like wallowing doesn’t even register as an option really. Any band I’ve ever been in, if I dropped dead, I would want them to go on tour and release the record and put my stupid face on the video screen smiling and happy and stoned and living my life. I wouldn’t want them to fall victim to grief and misery and depression the way I have almost succumbed to those things several times in my life. I think the most amount of catharsis and way through grief and way to living with the pain of losing a friend and a bandmate is to keep on.
