this was a situation completely out of her comfort zone -- this was exactly the reason why mackenzie tried very hard to avoid relationships altogether, to avoid situations like this. where they were both on edge and uncomfortable and were still forced to interact. “hey,” she said when she opened the door to her apartment. “everything’s in a box on the coffee table.”

      “you know that i’m down for whatever but i told you that it won’t be forever,” she mumbled with a small shrug, her words sounding harsh and even she somewhat knew that as she continued to speak to the other. “how come you still think that you’re the one? baby i’m just chewing gum until the flavour’s gone,” she added, her arms crossing across her chest a little as she looked to the floor. she was doing this for her own good, for their own good. yumi was nothing but trouble so it was better to act like she didn’t want them all.
