                  It was ODD being close to your old college professor, yet --- here she was, doing just that. In fact, they were as close as ever & she had no regrets on the matter that Lecter was someone that was CONSTANTLY being looked up to in the medical profession she was in.  Sitting silently beside him on the essential therapy chair within the other’s office, a glass of HOMEMADE beer within her hand, the simple converse of a CERTAIN someone   ( --- Will Graham, of course ) was bought up earlier & because of such a topic, a quick drink was needed.  A soft smack of her lips, staring off toward the ground for a mere moment in attempt to guess the exact ingredients that were SAVORING on her palate.    ❝  -- I taste APPLE this time, how did you know that they were my favorite fruit, Hannibal ?  ❞  / @rippcr​

                    rosalina   has   been   expecting   some   sort   of   shenanigan   from   hannibal   lecter   on   this   day   ,   but   she   wasn’t   expecting   for   it   to   be   so   ...   simple .     a   part   of   her   wonders   if   the   wine   ,   her   favorite   kind   mind   you   ,   is   actually   poisoned .     but   ,   that   doesn’t   seem   like   the   chesapeake   ripper’s   style .     she   figures   it’s   probably   okay   to   drink   ,   he   wouldn’t   want   to   ruin   the   wine   like   that .     so   ,   she   takes   the   wine   and   immediately   pours   herself   a   small   glass   while   mulling   over   if   she   should   thank   him   or   not .     decides   that   she   probably   should   ...   he   would   find   it   incredibly   rude   ,   if   she   didn’t .     and   ,   she   knows   what   happens   to   people   if   he   finds   them   rude .     staring   displeased   at   the   note   he   left   ,   she   is   tempted   to   chuck   it   in   the   trash .     god   ,   she   can’t   believe   she   has   to   make   nice   with   this   man .

                    as   far   as   natasha   is   concerned   ,   valentine’s   day   is   just   the   same   as   any   other   day .     it   is   rare   that   james   makes   a   big   deal   out   of   it   ,   he   probably   doesn’t   think   she’s   worth   the   effort .     so   ,   she   isn’t   expecting   much   when   she   ventures   out   to   go   get   the   mail   when   he’s   off   at   work .     however   ,   the   package   immediately   captures   her   attention .     one   of   these   things   is   not   like   the   other   ...   one   of   these   things   just   doesn’t   belong .     she   feels   a   giddy   excitement   as   she   carries   the   mail   and   the   package   back   to   the   house   ,   opting   to   wait   until   she’s   inside   to   open   it .     it   has   her   name   on   it   ,   after   all .     she   can’t   possibly   imagine   who   it   would   be   from .     but   ,   that   changes   as   soon   as   she   delicately   opens   the   gift   and   what   is   inside   is   revealed .     natasha   instantly   knows   who   it’s   from   as   she   takes   in   the   faux   lipstick   and   the   blade   that   is   truly   within   ,   as   well   as   the   note .     hannibal   lecter .     it   has   to   be   him .     she   would   have   to   thank   him   the   next   time   she   sees   him .     smiling   ,   she   holds   the   note   and   secret   blade   in   her   hands   and   daintily   cradles   them   to   her   chest .     finally   ,   someone   actually   cares .     even   if   it   is   another   serial   killer .

will is unaccustomed to receiving presents. his father sends him two a year: once on christmas and once on his birthday, and they are typically of the same variety. so imagine his surprise when he sees the little present waiting for him. will takes it, walks back to his house, and sits at his dining room table. it takes him about four minutes to stop re-reading the note and open it, and then another twenty whilst he stares at it contemplating the present.

a quick trip to google later and he realizes that the bottle is not only fancy but expensive. it takes several more minutes for him to gather the courage to call hannibal. poor doctor lecter has not gotten to say "hello?" before will graham bursts out, "hannibal, what were you thinking? you can't buy me something like this without saying anything about it. what were you thinking?"

it seemed like an unspoken rule of sorts that neither of them talked about how easily their behavior could be mistaken for flirting. will graham makes himself oblivious to it. their relationship is complicated, certainly. but will enjoys having the doctor around. and right now, what will graham needs (or believes he needs) is someone like hannibal. as lecter said: he's supposed to be his PADDLE. he's supposed to keep will afloat.

the certain amount of flirtatious back and forth between them feels more real to him than most of his conversations with others.

but boundaries have been kept with purpose, in order to keep the natural order of things in place. will is hannibal's patient and hannibal is both his doctor and his friend. so imagine his surprise when hannibal practically dares him.
