He was so excited to hear that Lapis was coming to live with them, that it seemed like all the bad stuff from the last few weeks didn’t matter. He finally had his beach summer fun buddy around! And just in time for the season!
Pearl told him Lapis liked to hang out in the bathroom. He didn’t know what it was about Homeworld gems and the bathroom, but he didn’t question it. It was perfect for his plan, actually.
“Lapis!” Steven knocked politely before entering. “Check out what I got in town today! It’s Karen! She’s the perfect toy for the bath! Her capsule even floats!”

“You know... soup plates kinda look like hats, if you think about it. Like, if you flipped them upside down, you could probably wear one...” Junpei, never take anyone out to a fancy restaurant. He was focused in on his random observation, and picked up one of the plates for a moment- but when he turned, he noticed that the person looking at him was decidedly blue.
It was pretty weird that he could say it wasn’t his first time seeing a blue person.

"This is peculiar. I did not expect I would ever meet another Lapis Lazuli. Sensei once explained to me that fully formed gem duplicates were a rarity. Did you come from the Beach of Beginnings recently?"
Unbeknownst to Lapis, the gem in front of them was absolutely nothing like their kind. They were in for quite the surprise. They had an inkling that this person was different from the norm due to their lack of a shimmer all throughout their body... Lapis was not going to jump to too many conclusions quite yet but the fact that their body seemed a lot more crystallized than the stranger's, by comparison, was also alarming.
