Frisk needs a nap. Papyrus tries to help. Flowey gives a gift.
“I apologize for tonight, darling. I wanted to make this up to you. So we’ve got a little surprise for you, you wonderful little stars,” Mettaton says. He doesn’t have a face right now, but they can feel that he’s beaming.
Eventually everyone ends up in the living room, sort of, and it’s weird because there wasn’t any of that awkward shuffling of oh where do we be where should we sit. They all feel very, uhm, indulgent is what Chara says, except for Alphys who is studying something very anxiously on her phone. Frisk scooches right up and wiggles themself in between Undyne and Alphys on the couch, but Alphys turns the phone away from them.
“Frisk. My child,” glows Momma, coming into the room with what looks like her script binder. Her script binder? “I was looking at your file, dear. The one Mrs. Hills finally gave to me when we made it official last week? And…well, I saw something wonderful.”
There’s definitely not a whole lot of that in there. But their heart is light and full, and they’ve learned that sometimes, things they think are the least wonderful of all turn out to be the most. Turn out to get them the most loved.
“I saw your birthday, Frisk,” Momma prompts.
