Junior was sitting in a chair in the library. Texts book sprawled out on the table before him. Ones he was paying no attention to.His feet lifted and found a spot on top of the books. He smiled as he spoke. “I remember this one time Tre and I dared Gil to eat five dozen hard boiled eggs.” He shook his head. “He would not stop throwing up. Aunt Laurette was so mad at Tre and I.” He looked down when he felt Audrey’s head on his shoulder. “Sorry.” He smiled. “Am I boring you?”
Audrey watches his feet lift onto the books, a laugh falling from her mouth. “Five dozen? Is anyone able to do that without getting sick?” She was sure that she had once heard a little song about his dad, one with something about him eating eating that many eggs but she had assumed that it was only a joke. As he speaks, she leans closer to him, resting her head on his shoulder, chuckling once he mentions his aunt getting mad. At his words, she lifts her head. “Not at all.” She lifts a hand, waving it at his feet. “If you can get comfortable, can’t I do the same?” A part of her thought they shouldn’t have been sitting the way they were, the image of them so close wouldn’t help them keep their relationship a secret.
