May 7, 2026. I finished this yesterday, and was going to save it until Sunday to share (as I'm trying to get a Rita lore video up that day). But I'm having Star Fox Feelings, and decided to share this today.
A basic reference sheet for my Star Fox OC, Rita LaShette. The color and shading are purposely basic, as this is mostly to get the design across.

The sketch for this showed up in my daily doodle journal today. I did not expect to finish this, but I got motivated. Alcohol marker and white colored pencil.

April 3, 2026. This scene came to me today, and I wrote it down as a "maybe I'll do something with it someday". Then proceeded to stay up hours past when I normally would have gone to bed to work on it. I was just trying to get the idea out of my head, so the illustration and coloring aren't my best by a long shot, but GOOD ENOUGH! Perfectionism isn't going to get me anywhere.
I've been trying to work on a Rita lore video, but I keep not getting very far. Maybe someday. It's just a lot of work, and I've been tired and overthink-y lately. This short comic needs some background to make sense, so I suppose I'll just have to speed run an OC lore-dump here for now.
Rita is Vixy's (Fox's mom's) niece through her older half brother, Luc. Luc is not a good person, and has spent his entire adult life doing illegal things. When Rita is 6 or 7 he get arrested, and Vixy gets custody of Rita (they've never met prior to this, as Luc and Vixy do not have a good relationship). Rita is only a few months younger than Fox.
Luc escapes, briefly, and kidnaps his daughter back (not so much of a "I love my kid" but more of a "this is my property" kind of thing). Rita has been with the McClouds for at least a year at this point, and her life has been a lot better, because James and Vixy aren't horrible people. James goes after them, and gets Rita back, and Luc is sent back to prison (where he stays this time... at least until Rita's an adult, but that's a different story).
Rita, being a young child still, and probably having been verbally abused by Luc during this whole thing, feels like she's the problem. James disagrees. (I also think James has a soft spot for troubled kids, and ends up collecting a few more over the years... like Wolf, and maaaybe Falco?)
