On the first floor of the building there is the Museum of Wood, with an exhibition of over 5.000 pieces including woodworking machines and tools (dating back to 1850/1930), a unique collection of its kind in Europe for the quantity of pieces. The aim is to rediscover the typical origins and traditions of cabinet making, by exhibiting many tools coming from ancient Italian artisan shops. In the large hall there are planes, workbenches, lathes, combined machines, sanding machines, band
saws: almost forgotten technical terms. The undisputed protagonist of the space is the “Antico” table made of millennial Kauri wood dated 48,000 years and 12 meters long, characterized by an iron base designed by the architect Renzo Piano.
