the River Guard’s representative animal is the dragon - (see the dragon on the roof of the river guardian temple in one of Mizuki’s loading screens.) although instead of being a fire-breather, it’s a water/sea dragon akin to those within Japanese mythology. Bouncing off that, the horns on Stray’s mask aren’t in reference to Oni - they tribute to those of a dragon.
