The meme that changed Laveau house Christmas’s forever. Gingerbread would never be the same.
ive had an interesting experience with art over the years. im 22 and have been drawing for as long as i can remember but honestly, i didn’t get much attention for it until i was 20. and it’s wild because i used to get super bummed out as a teen that i never made it big as a 16 year old
i used to doodle all the time during school (i have 20+ sketch books FILLED with all sorts of manga and oc drawings lol), started drawing on oekaki boards and i used to have a deviantart account which i posted semi-regularly to. but the attention i got was mainly limited to my real life friends and maybe 1 or 2 internet people if i was lucky. i was a passing student in school art classes and my mum barely acknowledged my art because she “didn’t want me to go into an art career” :’) it didn’t help that i stopped drawing in grade 12 as i got busy with school and didn’t pick it up again until i was like… 20?
what got me into drawing again? i sorted out some personal dramas so my mental health improved a lot and purely drew things i enjoyed. I recalled thoroughly enjoying the Raffles series as a teen and i knew that the fandom was incredible niche so i knew that any fan art i drew was unlikely to make it big but i posted anyway just to keep me in the habit of drawing. And somehow, that worked? just that bit of positive feedback that i got from other fans was enough for me to want to keep drawing, which helped to improve my art, which encouraged me to branch into other things!
anyway, point is that you really can’t put a time limit on your own personal growth because everyone grows at different rates and in different circumstances. i wouldn’t call myself super popular as an artist but it doesn’t bother me anywhere near as much as it used to because ive learnt to appreciate the satisfaction that comes with drawing a little bit better each time.
So, until River screws this up with Summer, which he might, he’s got a lot of Flotsam and Disaster Princess in him XD damn them, but UNTIL THEN, this Bughead video feels so relevant. The words I mean. Like, shizz ‘bout to get real on how NOT normal their lives are. Plus, all the simple things Summer keeps wanting to do reminds me of all the things they wish to do in these lyrics. They even say camping. *squeeeeee* Clearly Bughead are more developed, but it’s def got the right vibe. I just fell in love with it because I know what’s going on in River’s head with Cinderella and his “other mother” too, plus Dads, and bros. Not to mention of course, Clopin’s words in his head about her.
*puts on repeat because reasons*
